Welp, maybe we don’t want these mega acquisitions to happen for better competition? I’d personally want to see FAANG + Microsoft broken up into 50 smaller companies.
Okay, well, the laws do not support that.
I also wish that people would focus their ire on breaking up companies that actually negatively impact lives in highly important and highly consolidated industries like energy, oil, food/beverage/grocery, hospitals, pharmaceutical, and transportation.

Infamy is, He/She/They are basically saying i’m a child or something to the tone of that with the way they reply to me with some weird undertone.
I did not know who the person was? / still don’t know who he is? and don’t plan to know. I just ask a question who he is? yet a bunch of memeber gang up on me for no reason. I enteract with this thread a lot, it not like i just go in here and post drive-by for no reason. If they think i’m obnoxious? because i ask a question? ok, it best i ignore those kind of people.

Loved Jez and Rand calling out all those games journalists, who claim to be pro Union, who’ve completely ignored the CWA and other’s who have publicly backed this deal.
It seems like MS not owning ABK is more important to them than the workers rights that they’re constantly championing online. Very curious, indeed.

re this deal dying, yeah the only way this deal dies is if the CMA and EU block it. Odds are that the EU will let it go through, the real worry/concern is the CMA.

That’s not very surprising. Conditions at Sony first party studios seem like they can be pretty dire, namely Insomniac’s harassment culture and Naughty Dog’s crunch culture. Every time there is a story on it, which is pretty rarely, there’s a bit of handwringing and oh noes and then people go back to speculating on the next TLOU content or Spider-Man.
The vast majority of people who claim to be concerned about workers just do it with a pretty thin layer of transparent concern on top of a big heaping of platform wars. If it’s a dev/platform/publisher people don’t like or support then any issue is a disaster. If they do like them it’s lip service and return to normal.
The enthusiast/influencer/media portions of the industry by far and large don’t give a damn about it being a good place to work so long as it keeps releasing highly rated games. Just wait for the next Spider-Man trailer to drop and you’ll see it first hand.

Well, that’s just a really dumb article. There are questions that Microsoft answered like that so that they ABK could address them. Similarly, there are questions ABK could answer that they said they didn’t know for Microsoft to answer.
Shouldn’t be surprised that it was based on the clueless American Economic Liberties team responses, though.
