Mass Effect |OT| ME Next Engine news

Stop. I dont know what kind of point you try to make with such a child like statement.

Im convinced you people dont know what an actual bad game is.

Wow, I always felt Andromeda was different from the other MA but I couldn’t put it into words. But what you said about it being YA is exactly it. I’m not saying it’s a bad game but it does feel alittle like a YA novel…

OK so its an Andromeda fight we’ll be having? :stuck_out_tongue:

I was looking forward to Andromeda quite a bit TBH and having it set “Off on its own” wasn’t bad, it made sense I guess, though the ease it took to shift a ton of people away from the Reapers kind of downplayed their actual threat.

I liked Peebee, Vetra, Drack and even if I’m honest didn’t hate the “mmoesque” quests. Though I found the combat a little buggy (specifically mobs appearing from nowhere) I thought it was rather fun, though losing that fine control of your squad mates were to the games detriment.

I just disliked the lack of care over the story and characters versus previous games, it was clearly a rushed job given so much happened and they spent so long on proc gen, the best I could say is they did the best they could with what they had.

Unfortunately it was a ME game, and it measured against the high bar set by other ME games we can say it was a “Spin off” or not “Main Bioware” but they were happy enough to sell it based on the IP so I feel its fair game to judge it as a “Main ME game”.

I hate the wasted opportunity more than the game itself (and I loathe the game) and its so disappointing they were not given more time to improve it. That they were unable to explore themes of colonialism in detail, that they had so little time all the Gay romance options appeared merely an “afterthought”. That they were not able to try and improve it with some DL. Its a disappointing game, and I expect it to look even more so compared to the trilogy re release.

Anyway, at least some of us liked it, and though it wasn’t as good as ME3, I found the MP fun enough.

I was hyped for Andromeda. Then the first contact happend in the game and my optimism had to adjust quickly, lol

There’s no doubt that Andromeda is divisive & fell short for a lot of people. I maintain that it’s not as bad as accepted wisdom would suggest & is in fact more worthy of your time than a lot of other, more popular, games. I’m happy to die on that hill as well :fist:

It’s divisive though. My wife still hasn’t played it & she loves Mass Effect & BioWare in general. Her reason? “Everybody looks weird”. That’s it. The character models & facial animations are unfinished & look weird. She can’t get past that. I kept saying that there was still a fun game underneath that stuff but nope. No dice, so I just left it. Everyone is free to make their own minds up about these things.

I dont know if its obvious but I am so excited for ME remaster I will actually try and be kind about Andromeda without going “old lady attack mode”

In all of games, my love and passion for Mass Effect is only eclipsed by my love and passion for Dragon Age, so I’m practically ashamed to admit that I haven’t played Andromeda to completion yet. I just haven’t had the heart to do it.

I was actually planning on finally seeing it through, in the near future, but ultimately decided I wanted to keep fresh for the remaster. One day, it will happen; I owe it to myself.

I know exactly how she feels, everything is a little bit “off” and that is the sort of thing that can really take me out of the world, and for me the world is the best part of the games.

I dont really know I can’t describe it. Originally I made Shepard who I wished I could be, so she was always an ideal me, someone I aspired to be and I never felt there was anything between me and her, also except for Shepard out of armor (jeez in the dress), the use of the same animation rig for both Shepards was, I found rather empowering, here was this strong character and she was not sashaying around the galaxy.

Andromeda had many things between me and my Ryder by comparison, she was not me, she was a strange person in the world I was controlling. It was, I dunno. Like in any char creator where you spend an hour making soemone great then after an hour of tuorial you see them in a cutscene and are repulsed. And then those opening hours of just a rogues gallery of “offness”.

So though it is rote and perhaps annoying when people say things like “Its a terrible Mass Effect game” I understand completely, as a way of describing it its pretty concise and encompasses just how “off” it feels to some.

GOD WHY ISNT THE GAME LIVE STEVE!

Oh aye, the character creator is a big disappointment in Andromeda. No argument there.

I did eventually manage to create my own decent enough versions of both Scott & Sara but there’s no denying that the creation options are severely lacking.

I’ve been going back & forth, but I will wait a while before picking this up. ME1 was the game that sold me on the 360 when it was revealed and is still my favourite of the series, but I’ve played through each of them 6 times (as each class), so will devote my time to new experiences contained within my backlog and Game Pass sub :joy:

That its a technical buggy mess and everyone’s saves get corrupted after 40 hours in. And during that first 40 hours prior to the corruption the framerate is all over the pace and it crashes/freezes randomly every 30 minutes due to a memory leak. Apart from that I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I am so stoked for this release. Trilogy is in my top games ever (especially 2) but I’ve never gone back to it. The time is so right for a replay and I’m definitely going Femshep after playing as Manshep the other time. Can’t wait to hang out with my best buddy Garrus again.

Just bought pre order from digital store. I once played first one, didn’t like it back in the day, felt was too much innovative (lol) in terms of mechanics compared to previous Bioware games. Recently started to play again on Series X and think it is a time to finish them all and remaster is better way to do it. I also noticed that it is my first game I bought at launch since Skyrim in 2011…

The life & soul of the party, aren’t you

Got to say, I always loved the Shepard 2-step.

That’s how I dance in real life.

I dance like I have been set on fire, apparently though when I am sufficiently drunk I improve to the status of “one set on fire, which was then put out with blunt instruments”

God I love Mass Effect. Its incredible that nobody has ever tried to make a space opera of this nature ever besides them.

Gonna rename the thread for it to be the official game thread here then so let me know what you people think of the new one.
