Mass Effect |OT| ME Next Engine news

Watching someone I subscribe to on YouTube play this right now, I’m struck by the realization that even though I enjoyed the game when I played it a lot, I still allowed the negative cloud around the series to partially affect my opinion of the game, It’s really a solid title.

I would even say that given the development hell of the game, what they ended up being able to pull together in the end is rather extraordinary IMO. People like to say stupid stuff, like X is a good game it’s just not a good (insert series here) game, and people do that with Andromeda, but that a terrible take IMO, it is a good Mass Effect game.

If someone doesn’t like it, that is their prerogative, but saying that it’s a bad game is intellectually dishonest, IMO.

Great post man

I’ve been playing Andromeda after finishing the OG trilogy and it’s pretty good. I guess the time in between has fixed any issues as it seems to play well.

It always played well. It’s just that people focused too much on facial animations and story, not that it wasn’t important, but personnaly, I liked the story and the combat is really good. And exploring the planets is fun. I think it’s what Mass Effect wanted to be from the start. The game felt a bit rushed, but I still had a great time with it.

In that regard yes it is. Its what ME 1 clearly wanted to be and its Andromeda that nailed that aspect.

Indeed Andromeda wasn’t this bug mess that ppl said back in the day. It had its share of issues, but I played from start to finish without any big issues. It is another game that suffered from gamers hiperbolic behavior over some aestetic bugs.

I truly think its the first game that started to get massacred in social media and youtube before release and it hasnt stopped since.

Which is a shame, because i think Andromeda derserves a sequel, and Im afraid it is done. At very least im waiting for fps boost to replay the game, there were some cool moments in that game.

It had multiple things against. First, EA. The anti EA dogpiling was in full swing at the time, as was the social media ‘hey I can get easy likes and clicks if I hate this thing’ movement

And Bioware in particular had to deal with both the holdover anger from ME3’s ending as well as the hard right wing, get woke-go broke crowd that sees Bioware as very pro gay, pro liberal etc company that they pre-emptively want to try and make fail

Oh I remember the Cora being a SJW propaganda push which is funny because she was anything but that.

I dont think its done per say but I get why the “ME Next” is going the safest route possible with the Milky Way to try and “prove” they can make a modern mass effect again but using the familiar cast for cookie points.

Cause Ima be honest story wise it does little for me post ME3. Nothing in the milky way interests me post reaper invasion.

The still super intense residual anger over the M3 ending, the change to a new protagonist, and the move to new galaxy, as well as the old “EA is bad” chestnut, primed folks to crap on the game and the animation issues provided the perfect cover for people to exaggerate about how bad the game was.

And yep nowadays people go over the top just for clicks and to cater to a segment of the gaming public who are mad for reasons that don’t really have anything to do with that specific game.

You mad bastards.

Don’t think I ever saw as many positive posts about Andromeda, in a row, in my life

Tears in my eyes. My Andromeda propaganda paying off.

I mean look no further than the stupid Miranda ass censorship ‘controversy’. Or the people making rant videos about them putting out some fan pack that had posters and figures and like a coffee table book, because…gasp…it didn’t even include the Legendary Edition!!!

Yeah no shit, dumbies. The game was not even coming out for months after that fan pack was. Which by the way, cost like $30 bucks

So been reading people complaining about side quests in Andromeda cause Im a masochist like that but having recently played the trilogy. Arent ME1 and 2 quests kinda same-ish too?

Like ME1 has you going to X planet, enter a base that has the same layout all the time and return to whoever gave you the quest.

ME2 is drops you in a planet and you shoot at everything that moves all the time. The game BARELY has anything rpg related to do.

Truly believe this franchise suffers from massive nostalgia googles.

Rolled the credits on ME3 today. What a ride. It’s been years since I’ve done a complete trilogy run, and it was fantastic to go back.

For all its faults, Mass Effect is still my favourite series of all time.

The Xbox fanboy in me can’t help but wonder how the series would have turned out had Microsoft continued to be the publisher. A lot of parts of ME3 feel like a victim of the EA of that era.

Oh well. I’m just happy BioWare was able to see the whole thing through. The Citadel DLC is a fantastic send off.

Just started ME2 and is it me or is the game very dark, and if so is there a way to fix it?

Art direction in that game is very dark for some reason so just tone it up a bit brightness wise.
