Mass Effect |OT| ME Next Engine news

How are they supposed to even make ME4? Its not the only game nor the last to do so.

Yeah if the new game is a sequel to the original trilogy, then they will need to pick a canon ending. I can’t even imagine how much of an awkward cop-out it would be to make a direct sequel & somehow try to never address that elephant in the room.

As always, my personal preference would have been to leave the original trilogy as it is, move on & continue the story started in Andromeda, but sadly that’s not happening.

We will get our victory eventually @anon15396042

Only reason I believe they go back to the Milky Way for one last game is to pump some nostalgia out and try to get people back on board Because other than that I dont see anything remotely interesting that can be done threat wise after the reapers without it being ridiculous.

Posted my thoughts on reddit and they told me the following regarding potential story points in the Next game so Ill list some and give my thoughts.

-Do the Krogan rebel again?

Boring and just unnecessary drama coming off the genophage stuff in ME3. Had 3 games convincing people that the Krogans arent just war savages and that there maybe hope for the civilization only to rethread another part of the lore into this setting? Yuck.

-Do the Asari and Salarians suffer blowback for their behavior during the war?

What behavior? Come the end of the game all of the galaxy is united and unless Bioware picks and chooses this is meh. One of the main things about ME3 was forging alliances and the galaxy uniting to end a threat that had haunted all of the Milky Way since life began essentially.

-How do the Yagh behave when they join the galactic community?

I mean yeah the Yagh are suddenly gonna develop space flight in 1 year and find the non-existent mass effect relays?

And also, what of the parts of the galaxy that aren’t within easy FTL reach of a mass relay? Does someone go searching there and find something that wished to remain hidden?

So like the Leviathans? come on man you people have to do better.

Oh no, are we now going to start tearing doen the trilogy, as a way to argue for Andromeda?

Nah Im not tearing down the og trilogy at all. Its one of the best gaming series ever made. Im talking about using the points above for ME4 and people saying those would be nice stuff to see in the sequel when they arent.

The reason ME4 exists is beyond me.

I finished ME3 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The changes to the ending and the additions the dlc added really improve the game from what I remember.

I’d rank them 1/3/2 now.

I still rank ME2 in the top spot. To me that game is a 10. Not perfect, it has flaws, but the positives to me are SO high, they ride over it’s detractions like a giant wave. And it isn’t just my nostalgia speaking. As I’ve played through the Legendary Edition twice now. And my thoughts haven’t changed

ME1: 9.0 (great story, old but decent gameplay - clunky menus, leveling)

ME2: 10 (improved gameplay - best story - greatest ending in gaming history)

ME3: 9.5 (best combat and leveling of the series - amzing story that overcomes an iffy ending, that I never minded as much as others)

I agree with this for the most part except that for me the ending to 3 is a big enough blunder to knock it down to an 8.5.

Still dont know whats wrong with the ending of 3. Maybe cause I played through it the first time during the xbox one era.

Finished the trilogy with Mass Effect 3.

I THINK 3 is my favorite. For now, at least. Not that it’s an easy choice, because 2 is pretty close behind. I would say 3 has the best mechanics and combat of the trilogy, and overall felt the nicest to play. I also love how the game brings closure to the different conflicts persisting through the trilogy. There are just a few things I liked more in ME2. Squadmates for example were handled better in 2, I felt. Somewhat of a shame none of the new ME2 squadmates returned as squadmates in 3. But hey, at least they got somewhat of a focus as part of missions. Guess BioWare wanted to cut down on the number since ME2 had quite a few, which I can understand.

As for the ending, kinda mixed on it. Wasn’t my favorite but why do some people choose to hate on the entire game because of it? Like even if you hated it that doesn’t make the rest of the game terrible. The ending didn’t exactly satisfy me either but I still loved the rest of the game and I’m not gonna let it sour the entire experience. So I’m not too bothered about it.

Also the DLC is pretty great. Omega had interesting characters and was pretty fun to go through. Leviathan had some nice atmosphere and set pieces. Got a bit boring at points, but the final segment made up for it. And the Citadel DLC is fuckin’ hilarious. The perfect fanservice, and I would probably go as far to say that it’s the best DLC I’ve ever experienced. Javik is probably the most interesting squadmate of the game.

Glad the Legendary Edition exists. It’s a great way to experience the trilogy for the first time like I did, or re-experience it.

And like the rest of you… now I’m wondering, what the HELL are they gonna do for the new Mass Effect? Genuinely have no idea. Whatever they do, hopefully they can deliver. Don’t expect the game till like 2025 tho.

Already have lol. Purchased the game last year so it’s just sitting there in my backlog while I wait for a possible FPS Boost.

Knowing Bioware the Mass Effect Andromeda fps boost is this years N7 surprise … so they gonna keep me waiting till November.

Great stuff, appreciate the effort.

Looks really cool :+1:

You always give Andromeda as much love as the OG trilogy & I dig that.

Its not the best Mass Effect game thats for sure but I think that speaks to the quality of the first 3 games. I just dont understand how people say its a terrible game because if this game is terrible then idk what to say about other actually horrid games I have played.

Hopefully ME Next bridges both galaxies in a way (not a fan because this is cookie point hunting) and Andromeda can eventually breathe on its own with Ryder and crew. I also think people didnt understand that Ryder wasnt this badass with a great background like Shepard was and they refused to connect with him or the new crew which is ironically top 2 to me in the series.
