Aannnnnnd we’ve made it full circle back to this.
It’s meh news unless you played it on PC in it’s prime and yearn for the nostalgia. Most console users present day have no attachment to the franchise. Nothing wrong with being happy about it though. Enjoy games that you like regardless of any outside factors.
Do they show up with an Xbox Series X??? Might be an easier way of getting the console…
I also think Quake needs all the help it can get to become more relevant as a franchise. A multiplatform remaster followed by a more modern reboot could work.
Yep. And since the new reboot won’t have any legacy, if I’m understanding this right, this will be GP and PC only.
Quake is one of the biggest franchises there has been. I get your point and agree. But I’d say it was for a long time the biggest id game. Quake at launch was huge. I mean literally mahooosive.
Outside of older gamers, Quake is kind of an unknown quantity. Back in the day, Quake was indeed massive and eclipsed Doom in popularity (they named it Quakecon and not Doomcon for a reason), but there hasn’t been a game in the franchise since Quake 4 which was an underwhelming 360 launch title (I’m not including the latest Quake Champions game, because, yeah).
Everything I’m saying could have also been applied to Doom prior to it’s reboot though, so hopefully Quake can get the reboot it deserves and regain that gamer mindshare everyone is always so worried about.
I don’t think remaster will move a needle. At all.
In how many hours Quake segment of QuakeCon starts?
roughly 5 and a half hours and pretty much at the start of the event itself
If it is EDT then it only 3 hours no?
So this morning I saw countless posts on the community thread that angrily dismissed concerns about the possibility of this being multiplat.
Hopefully in the future we can have the conversation again without dogpiling, because it’s clearly not off the cards.
This is obviously an outlier and falls into the category of ‘legacy’, though I agree with others that this opens up speculation to pre-existing IP being multiplat, such as Elder Scrolls, Fallout or Wolfenstein.
You could make the argument both ways, for why this may or may not be reflective of more multiplats. 1 being that this is not likely to generate much revenue, but be good for PR, while this wouldn’t be the case for bigger old IP’s.
The reason this debate gets people talking is because, in principle, it means that if something like Fallout and Elder scrolls are NOT exclusive, that’s a massive deal. There’s no point pretending that it isn’t, even if you don’t care about exclusives. Those games would pull millions to the platform alone, which means more investment into the platform that we love.
oh shit yeah, I thought this was PST my bad lmao, then you’re right, it’s a tad sooner.
The thing is I that specifically set PT as the second clock on my phone in order not to skip the conferences, yet QuakeCon provided only EDT time lol
I think we all agree that a new Fallout or Elder Scrolls game being exclusive is a big deal.
lol this my PC. I have pretty much memorized my time zone to PST conversion now, but accidentally presumed even this event timings to be listed in the same timezone but yeah its EDT and threw me off hehe
I agree. I don’t really understand why Xbox continues to release games outside the Xbox ecosystem, it makes no sense.
I also think we should be allowed to voice our opinions on the matter without catching a ban. With the risk of catching my first ban I will also say that the “Xbox can do no wrong but also you can’t be a fan”-crowd is as annoying as PS-cultists sometimes.
Because money. Which they have mastered making metric shit tons of. The end.
I promise you no one has been banned on here for disagreeing with Xbox.
Throwing a temper tantrum, being disingenuous, losing your mind, spamming posts, saying Xbox is somehow doomed will likely lead to flagged posts, warnings, and maybe a ban if it’s repeated.
So you are one of those who believe Starfield should release on PS5 too because “it’s leaving money on the table”? Aight.
