Nah, they literally had the same restrictions on FFXI and Ms caved in, why wouldn’t allow FF14?

Not to mention Square calling out bullshit reasons that were not an issue (like saying Ms only allowed cross play for shooters, when there was non shooter games from 3rd parties with crossplay when they made that statement)

I agree, in the FF14 situation there is clearly some bullshit going on, I will never believe Yoshi-P above Phil, like never ever lol. We must all remember that Sony has even today a small cut in Square Enix, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that they have used all their remaining influence in the company to attach FF to PS even more than the last 2 generations since MS is now aggressive like 2005.

You know this could all be avoided if Microsoft just buys a few of the remaining independent JRPG studios.

Then they don’t have to worry about shit like this because they could make their own.

I mean, sure, that’s also a perfectly valid perspective. I’m just expressing sympathy for the people who don’t wanna wait like ten years for that though There’s also the added complication of spoilers; people tend to stop being as careful about discussing them openly as time goes on. You’re obviously more likely to have developments spoiled for you if you have to wait a year.

And I’m also not as invested as other people in that specific game. I’m sure I could find something else that I had to have and wouldn’t want to wait for. Robert Jordan’s (and Brandon Sanderson) Wheel of Time, if released as a game series would probably do this for me, and I’d imagine that could take 30 years to get the whole thing…

Yep I mean, we still don’t even know if FF7R will come to Xbox and even Ff16 it’s already known to be in at least a 2 year timed exclusive.

There’s a clear push for Sony to associate the ip with Playstation.
