Exactly Playground wasn’t touched and they are close to 400 people
Nothing has to be said about FH5.
I agree that Halo Infinite has disappointed for sure with its live service, but it has made a turnaround with the last 2 major updates. You know very well that most live service games start off slow and then pick up after a year or so post-launch. I still think that will happen with this game too.
This is awful news, for Halo and the studio of course, but much more for the dozens without jobs now.
I haven’t gone through the whole thread yet, but please keep things respectful. Which I’m sure they’ve already been, but figured I’d say something too!
Think it’s mostly the US side of things that will be affected by the layoffs. Wages tend to be higher there and paying for non subsidized health insurance as a company wide benefit can’t be cheap.
I’ve heard it’s mainly zenimax. Forza is Xbox biggest franchise atm beside Minecraft it won’t get touched. Halo underperformed.
I’m glad you’re optimistic but numbers show that the last 2 updates haven’t really moved the needle. In fact it’s even less played now then it was a year ago.
I’m glad 343 is continuing to work hard on it but I just don’t see the insane turn around that people are hoping for.
But that’s okay, as long as new content is still coming in, that’s great for the core Halo fanbase.
This is gone to become a worldwide thing, as the economy is due for a recession.
It’s sucks, but it is what it is. People get hire and fire all the time. it’s nothing new.
Its not an opinion. Its a fact.
Like it took Forza Horizon 5 eight months to do Halos opening numbers.
Kind of weird that some like to paint Forza as a juggernaut but Infinite as disappointing when it outperformed it 6:1.
I personally like both games.
Whoever made the decision to cut jobs at 343 made the wrong decision. This is really bad
Zenimax as a whole still had their publishing structure intact. Can’t imagine at least a bunch of those jobs not being partly redundant after the acquisition.
As in Zenimax Online Studios?
Who was that one dude that did the presentation on how they made the announcement trailer. Is he still at 343?
Again like I said.
If you think Infinite is more successful than Forza Horizon 5, more power to you lol.
You won’t get a fight about it out of me.
We can agree to disagree mate.
Of course, it will be played less than a year ago as that was when the game was still fresh. I did not say it was going to have an insane turn around. That will depend on how well Project Tatanka lands with players.
Assuming better content and cadence, I think a lot more of the core Halo fanbase will be retained.
I accept you dont like Halo and might be dishonest about its launch for reasons.
It may seem obvious what you said, but it seems that some people here in this thread somehow thought that Microsoft was some kind of charity.
I don’t like to see people lose jobs
MS are a business though and of all the studios id expect to see cuts, 343 would be at the top of the list, especially single player
Nah, I just rather be honest about the situation lol.
Rather then clinging on to launch numbers to claim that Infinite was more successful for MS than Forza Horizon 5.
But I think we’re getting off topic like Jesse is saying.
Launches are a very small part of the pie nowadays, they don’t mean much if it drops off a cliff after that
Just to add to this, Horizon 5 was in Xbox’s best sellers for 2022 the other day, Infinite wasn’t
