Last Call: Nintendo Switch 2 Hope/Expectations

I thought about it. It could be a hedge against the tariffs but that seems like an awfully risky move. Not only but that shouldn’t affect digital for such a dramatic increase.

Hardware price is about what I expected, but the game pricing is insane. Nintendo games rarely go on sale and usually don‘t go below -35%. That‘s going to be an issue. Paid upgrades also suck but TBH I expected them. A new 3D Donkey Kong and Mario Kart Worlds looked great though.

people keep bringing this up but that is a relatively new phenomenon - and it only comes from a position of strength and witnessing how companies like Ubisoft diminished their own lines. It is a strategy that worked.

Everything up to the switch had ‘greatest hits’ collections that were cheap. Maybe not the Wii U no one owned one so no one knows.

Hell the entire industry has changed from discounting to discounting bullshit ‘Golden Versions’ or Specialized Edition’ or whatever name they give the more expensive versions with the different color skins. Discount the game with the useless junk included - not the standard tier - which really isn’t discounting at all. That’s the trend.

When you think about it, the C button is the first ever paywall button.

The more I see of Donkey Kong the less hyped I get.

Yes, being able to destroy almost everything looks cool. Basically DK goes Red Faction Guerilla, but how long until the fun of that feature wears off?

Where is the actual level design? Man, I just wanted a 3D Donkey game with typical DK locations and enemies and this ain’t that. :pensive:

It honestly looks like an Odyssey asset-holdover and DK was just transplanted in there to fill in the gap until the next Mario. Would have preferred another Country.

Perfectly said!

Really hoping Mario is a holiday game.

Thought it was an almost laughable presentation tbh. The bit about partychat was so cringy, they spent 5 mins to show how you can talk to friends online…

Then came the manual made into a game, for which you need to pay money for, WTF?

Mario Kart gimmick being open world, my least fav gimmick in racing games…

Everything being overpriced.

Nah, not buying one. Maybe in a couple of years when there’s enough Nintendo exclusives that I do like.

Careful now, some will come for you for… checks notes… having a legitimate complaint about any of the pricing.
