Hi-Fi RUSH on Switch 2

Here’s hoping for better future now they got technically a second chance. I got to say, I’ll give Phil a kudos or whoever decided to not go all the way to end it entirely rather give it a new home. Almost like crisis adverted.

Best of wishes, Tango.

Edit: Interesting for Xbox to keep other IPs. Granted, they could end up in the vault, but one would hope for another chance, mainly The Evil Within (since that one has many fans to request another).

Could also be that they just didn’t want to buy them

Wish they get Evil Within as well because it’s the only good games Tango made in my view

True. Still, if Phil chooses to, he can have someone work on those IPs, like how whichever platform game coming up being worked by T4B. I’m only saying, not guaranteeing it.

That all said the story behind Tango seems to be more “complex” as it was said to be closed, only to be bought. It’s the first I heard. It didn’t give any impression that it was on sale or anything. It’s like a very delayed T4B move only to be bought not go independent. Business is weird.

Different strokes for different folks.

Yeah, could be, considering they seemed more critic revered but commercially faltered.

In case anyone is wondering what probably happened

Something like this doesn’t just happen overnight and most likely this has been in the works for a long time. MS essentially sold the studio intact, but “closed” it first and had it bought later, probably for accounting and tax purposes.

4D chess?

So, who’s publishing HFR1 on Switch 2?

Sort of.

There are laws in Japan that come into play that I doubt any of us knows, but it probably something has something to due with the time frame. Like if you buy an investment and sell for a profit or loss right away the taxes are different than if you held the investment for a long time. Or it could be something as simple as “closing” studio so the employees can claim unemployment (again Japan?) while out of work but in reality their jobs are safe.

No doubt in my mind this was a sale from the start with some creative accounting.

Very good news. Best of luck to them, and looking forward to their next game.

Surely, given all of the tears that were shed for Tango’s closure, Hi-Fi Rush 2 will go on to sell millions of copies, right?

Very glad to see Hi-Fi Rush 2 is likely all but confirmed, it must also be a huge relief for the team too.

Presumably if Krafton now own the original rights it will likely leave GP soon too. I’m not sure what it means for their other IP either? EDIT: Krafton said that the acquisition will have no impact on the availability of Tango’s previous releases, and that they will remain available where they are currently.

I still think it’s a mistake, Hi-Fi Rush was my favourite new IP from Xbox in years.

Definitely good news, better than total closures which I really thought would happen!

Hopefully Krafton is a good home for them. The other day I read something about Callisto Protocol and that one of the lead devs said he wanted more time, but didn’t. Time is something MS/Xbox did provide.

But if this increases chances of a HFR2, let’s go.
