People are not upset over a random game, it’s KOTOR with its history on Xbox. At least to my knowledge there is no such thing for Indiana Jones on PS.
What does making as a third party mean? It’s a $70 million budget funded by someone (not Aspyr).
This is the only WRPG Sony will have on thier console, and theyve paid millions for timed exclusivity. Waste of money for the long term

Aspyr was bought out by Embracer.

Yeah, I don’t get it. $70 million would be a LOT for Embracer, but they would be able to EASILY make a profit on the game.

Embracer just bought Aspyr this year, game was already in development.
Yeah, maybe this was originally greenlit as a Sony and Aspyr project and then Embracer came into the equation later?
Actually yeah, that’s probable. As @pg2g says Embracer acquired them just this year. Which means development started prior.
Of course they don’t own the IP. Its Star Wars
And this will no doubt come to Xbox eventually
But MS need to 1 up Sony here and announce KOTOR 3. That would be hilarious.
I don’t care about it being an exclusive. ITs a Remake. Sony are going to counter MS’s bethesda acquisition with this sort of stuff. Deal with it and hit back. Thats all you can do. No point in getting annoyed about it.

I actually wish that the title wasn’t changed, the original one was an accurate descriptor of what the thread was made for. Not an earnest discussion of a KOTOR remake, but instead another bitch fest against Xbox.

Playstation really has no RPG 1st party game so i can see why they would money hat KOTOR Remake they need a proper RPG game thank god MS bought Bethesda before Sony could Money Hat Starfield.
Sony has a ton its just uninspired or too lazy to use its IP’s.
A full on Legend of Dragoon Reboot or Dark Cloud 3 would be incredible but Sony don’t give a shit about these classic IPs anymore. Them money hatting FF16 and most likely FF7R part 2 is pretty much the path theyre on.
Lets make Western Style AAA games with ridiculous budgets and ignore everything Japan related

This is WHy I think its even more Important for MS to put some importance in the JPN creative department. Get some AAA JPN games that could be GOTG calibur. You don’t have to go and spend billions to aquire JPN studios. Just spend a tenth of that and get some high quality games on your system. Why not try and reboot a Valkyrie Profile or a Suikoden with a decent budget and have it alongside your Fables and Starfields? yEs they were once Niche. So was Persona. Now its selling millions.
Imagine MS just went outside the Box and made a remake or rebooted something like Vagrant Story or paid SE to help them make Final Fantasy Tactics Sequel exclusive to Xbox. It would be insane.
KOTOR is among my favorite games of all time. OG Xbox is one of my favorite consoles of all time. It was certainly a “holy crap” moment for me to see the remake of one of the Xbox brand’s best exclusives appear on Sony’s stage with a timed deal. That said, there are going to be big moments for both platforms this gen. Fans shouldn’t try to absorb every shot these mega corporations throw at each other. Sucks the fun out of it. Take a deep breath. There are going to be huge moments on Xbox.
My hope is it’s not a long exclusivity deal and it revitalizes the entire franchise to come back with true sequels.

Xbox kind of did that already making Yakuza 7 next gen exclusive for 4 months. Other era was having meltdowns for months over that.
It was probably a dick move for Sony to target KOTOR to hurt the Xbox brand. but its just business. They get the headlines, it gets people into their ecosystem and they make a lot of money. I assume they are targeting Bioshock 4. another franchise more associated with Xbox than PS brand as well.
With all that being said its being published by Sony and it has a 70 million dollar budget. I am looking forward to KOTOR.
