Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios Announce "OD"

That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying the hype merchants about him are tiresome. I like Kojima games in that they tend to be quite different, albeit rarely superlative imo (MGS1 probably my favourite/ the only one I really enjoyed).

But the noise about him is really boring, and it’s partly because of his ‘auteur’ status. Autuers need to be critiqued, not handjobbed all the time.

I think Geoff is the worst blinded Kojima fan. TGA only magnifies that.

So I didn’t notice that it literally said OD on fear in the release, but that doorway still seems super important. That said, I wish they’d hold off on showing anything more until this is within a few months of release. We have a taste, leave it at that and don’t show anything else until the game is about done.

A literal nothing trailer. Kojima is overhyped and I stand by that.

I really don’t know why Kojima gets so much praise. I’ll expect this game to be way over budget and years late. I would rather have saw Xbox money working with Capcom on a exclusive

Out of his work I enjoyed Snatcher on the Mega CD and MGS on the PS1.

Spot on . I agree

When Overdose was leaked with its provisional title there were also these “3 dots” in the “O” which strangely resemble the save symbol in the Silent Hill games

He’s fanboyed because he’s consistently put out many people’s favourite games over the last 30 years and is unique to every dev out there

Fanboyism is fine as long as you aren’t a tool about like bashing other devs to prop him up or whatever, he’s made my favourite games of all time so naturally I’m fine with the noise as I think he’s earned it

It’s fine to not like his games or whatever but being years late is the complete opposite of what Kojima is known for

DS was a massive undertaking, he had to set up an entirely new studio and create a completely unique AAA IP and was still able to get it out in just 4 years

As for why the praise, he’s created many people favourite games over a very long period of time and is also very unique, so it’s really not that complicated

I’m tired of all the portbegging going on, I guess that As Dusk Falls going to playstation really gave them a puff of hopium. I know Kojima stans are mostly PlayStation gamers but they will wake up to reality soon.

PS don’t use cloud for gaming input, so until they do and/or Xbox don’t take it as their own, OD is staying.

Isn’t the game being built as xCloud-native, they can play it there.

Can’t. Don’t want to give a penny to Hitl- I mean Xbox.

Yeah them comparing a smaller indie game to a game that might not be big in scope either but is made by one of the most celebrated game creators of all time is hilarious to me. Kojima’s name alone is a system seller and I doubt Xbox wouldn’t take advantage of it.

Anyone have any ideas how this game could possibly make use of cloud tech?

Social scream and social stealth make it sound like something where you’d be experiencing it with other people at the same time and it’s somehow capturing those experiences/interactions of others. Otherwise it wouldn’t be social. So cloud processes handling some systems that analyze behavior / activities of multiple players simultaneously and adjusts the experience?

Just spitballing but that could explain how it’s a game but also cinematic experience and new.
