JRPGs |OT| The Grind to Level 99 is Paved With Good Intentions

That’s because they’re the best RPGs out there. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Unrelated but I’m curious about One Piece Odyssey despite never seeing a minute of the anime. Kind of reminds me of the two Naruto X360 games that were really better than they had any right to be.

Cant wait to play suikoden 2 hd on my xbox. Feels weird but aamzing to say that when you consider the shithousery of SE and neglect of NIS from xbox.

Did you think 2023 was already too stacked? Well sorry to say but it’s getting even better. Two very anticipated fan translations will release this year

TLOH3 is from Geofront who brought us the translations for the Crossbell Trails games in 2020/2021

Sakura Wars 2 is from the same team that did Sakura Wars 1 in 2020. I played that on actual hardware, fell in love with the game instantly. SW2 was on my list of “learn Japanese” motivators, nice to see it getting translated finally.

Always wanted to check out pre trails LOH games. Love the pre cold steel artstyle Falcom had.

New year resolution: finish FFVII, then I’ll feel ok with myself entereing this topic

DQXI JP playthrough is going well. Can read a lot more than I was expecting. I was playing Kuro 2 with the assistance of a text capturer and DeepL (while reading what I can), DQXI I am playing with what I know and using Jisho to look up new words I encounter (which is a lot lol).

About 4 and a half hours in and arrived in Heliodor (or Derukadaaru here in Japanese. I guess that would be Delkadar)

The different town and character names, as well as the less “eccentric” dialogue (compared to English) are interesting, it’s almost like I’m playing a different game.

I know it’s not technically a JRPG but I’m close to finishing my first playthrough of Daganronpa after a friend begged me to play it and holy shit. So happy I went into this completely blind.

I’m in the same boat, I really wasn’t expecting it to be this good!

Can’t wait until Raincode releases this year

So the list of JRPGS coming to Xbox This year…

  • Persona 3 / Persona 4
  • Suikoden I & II Remaster
  • Tales of Symphonia HD
  • Eiyuden Chorinicles
  • Ni no Kuni II

Might have missed some but hopefully more are announced. Don’t care if theyre old or new games. Eiyuden seems to be the only day 1 New title.

I’m hoping MS shocks everyone and announces a Lost Odyssey 2.

Walking around the city. Shizuna said she’d like to climb the ferris wheel… Van’s response was “Don’t you DARE do that”. She may be hot but she’s pretty unhinged… Van, if Kuro 3 has romance options… I hope you’re ready

Yeah I love Shizuna lol (really, the Kuro cast is a contender for my favorite JRPG party ever), so happy to see her as a permanent party member here, she was only a guest in Kuro 1.

And I’ve probably mentioned it before but Van is definitely my favorite Trails protagonist so far. More than Estelle. So much more cooler than Rean (who’s last series appearance was getting his ass beat by Shizuna lol)

You all need to give up on this lmao. I think the reality is you won’t see brand new projects exclusive to Xbox besides Kojima’s game (and whatever tango is cooking up )until MS makes some studio acquisitions in Japan which will happen eventually.

I just can’t see them making jp acquisitions.

We know they are approaching Japanese studios and publishers about acquisitions.

We know they tried to buy SE in the past and were close to acquiring Capcom last gen.

MS is clearly interested in acquiring Japanese studios, it’s just a matter of time.

There are quite a few studios I know they could easily get and fund. The only publisher that seems feasible is sega.

If they can’t get a publisher, there are a number of mid sized studios they could acquire, yeah.

The team that developed Lost Odyssey (feelplus) was absorbed by Marvelous a decade ago so I don’t know who would actually develop an LO2.

Anyway if XGS ever publishes a JRPG I hope it will have “Tales of” level of production value. I know a lot of people want one with “Final Fantasy” production values but the truth is there’s no company other than Square who makes AAA JRPGs.

For the time being, third party wise, I hope we’re thrown a bone on the “Xbox Direct” (if third parties are even going to be there). Whether it be a new JRPG announcement or something already upcoming to Xbox being shown and coming to GP.

Id want more on the level of a Persona5. Focus more on characters story and style than raw production valurs likr an Arise. Even though persona has decent budget. Its just on anothet level compared to arise in all other assets except graphics.

As for the topic…forgot One piece is effectively a turn based rpg

Ive been watching some videos of it online. Really interesed in getting this but ive only watched the Anime briefly so thr first couple of seasons.

All star ocean needed was a higher budget and better writers. The base gameplay and movement is good.
