So looks like Destin has picked up on the Sony bad news trends and actually made a video detailing it. Good for him I hope more people start connecting the DOTs and put the word out about Sony’s issues.
And we thank you for that, gaming media has turned something similar to legacy news media were political leaning matter more than searching for truth. It’s the same for gaming nowadays, their favorite company must have a clean image that must be protected, like how legacy media protect the image of their favorite policitian. I don’t want to see that in the gaming industry, as we deal with that already in real life politics.
Words on the street says Bungie is laying off staff today.
Yep, Bungie layoffs confirmed. Wow. Things truly are on fire
The PlayStation fans can bury their heads in sales figures for the PS5, but it should be clear by now that all is not well in the land of PlayStation and you only need to look at their financials for the cause.
Hopefully those affected find their feet quickly.
Funny as the consensus reaction is “what a bad year for game studios” Trying to limit the impact that it’s actually Sony involved with most of these recent layoffs.
Na gaming is going fine it’s just Sony having major issues right now but lets deflect that to the whole industry instead of calling Sony out.

Confirmed if he’s posting this.
What’s going on at Sony?
Disasterous for Playstation.
I would argue things have not been well for years, and have argued as much here; they’ve only been lucky because they’ve had the propaganda apparatus working tirelessly, meanwhile I’ve been highlighting the problems with Sony’s first party (and Sony proper overall) for at least three years. I’ve long said their reliance on reselling the same game and then buffering their overwhelmingly anemic first-party offerings with third-party exclusives. Last year there was at least one article from every major outlet about the “problems at Xbox”, during a year that they still released several first-party exclusives - yes, they may not have been the narrorly-defined “Quality AAA” that seems to only matter for Xbox; meanwhile Sony went more than an entire year without a new first-party exclusive, nary a word. That’s not irony, that’s bold-faced industry-wide gaslighting…

Sony really going to need a SM level of money making to make up.
Woops now game delays at Bungie,
Can’t argue against that and is what I was saying on these forums and away from them. Heck, we still do not have any kind of road map for Sony first party while we know the bare minimum what is supposed to be coming out from Xbox.
Glad Jason has clarified this is part of overall layoffs within Sony first party and not because of mismanagement at Bungie, which is the narrative that I have seen tentatively forming at other places.
Blizzcon is this week too. If lands well, this week is another “Halo 2 Opening ceremony” scene and you know who is who.
Sony could port many ps4 games to PC without hurting the ego of its ps5 fanbase.
100%
I bet we’ll see similar headlines where Sony avoids direct blame again; saying “Sony’s Bungie did x” is implying these were decisions made by the heads of each of these studios… which isn’t how it works when you’re an owned entity - those decisions come down from Sony leadership, and the studio leaders then have to develop a “involuntary separation” plan.
I’m late since the bungie thing dropped now but speaking about the weird rumour. Studios buying their independence is such a weird take. Like crazy console war level stupid.
That shit rarely ever happens. Sony would have to agree to sell those studios. They can’t just decide to leave lol. And it’s so much cheaper to just quit and open a New studio.
Gamers live in such a dream land sometimes.
Also, I wish that peter ovo account wouldn’t be postet here. It’s easily one of the worst “big” xbox fanboy accounts.
This is nowhere to be seen on Other Era’s front page… only a thread talking about the Marathon and Destiny 2 DLC delays, I only read one page but no one was mentioning the elephant in the room which is the layoffs… wtf, the double standards is real, this would be all over every major gaming site if it was Xbox.
Obviously the first thread there is the 90/10 market share currently in France between Xbox and PlayStation, priorities baby.
- Jim Ryan ‘retires’
- Connie Booth ‘leaves’
- Media Molecule has layoffs
- Naughty Dog has layoffs
- Factions 2 is on ice
- Bungie has layoffs
- Destiny’s The Final Shape and Marathon delayed to 2024 and 2025 respectively
A certain Other Forum: Nothing to see here, just a totally normal situation for Playstation. Oh! Did you know that the Playstation outsells Xbox 90/10 in France?
