It does seem things are really bad for them at the moment.
I was just reading a few tweets suggesting that two of their first party studios have requested to buy back their independence from Sony (no sources so it’s unlikely, but I wouldn’t put it past them at the moment).

You know, I do wonder if Bungie acquisition has already gotten them money back and more by this point. It feels like they’re still working on it.

From some of the other bits I have read GAAS and Bungie have been the cause for these issues. GAAS for obvious reasons and Bungie because allegedly they apparently have too much control of how studios are designing their games now (they also allegedly were the ones which caused TLOU Factions to be postponed/cancelled).

Bungie does have a buyout clause in their contract so it wouldn’t shock me.
Those rumors are from that Rythian guy who one week claims Sony is acquiring Take Two Interactive to now claiming all these other issues and whatnot. Come on. If it was Jaffe or Schreier, I would believe it or at least see it as very possible but this guy, nah, no way.
Keep in mind that Sony bought Bungie for $3.5B, but the base price was like $1.5B and the remaining $2B would be paid as bonuses to the employees remaining at Bungie over the following 3 years (or something like that, don’t remember the details). Paying $700M/year eats into SIE’s profitability obviously.

With the HR Director suing Bungie for systemic racial and sexual discrimination, I’d say good riddance - weird how that story never made its rounds on the usual podcasts that love to spell doom for Xbox if they get the whiff of a damp fart.
I wonder if the new Marathon has any ties to the original trilogy… I played them in 2007 when they were already considered super-retro and loved the crazy story and the music in the first game.

It’s all garbage and a mix of people seeing what it’s like from the old Xbox side of not seeing a road map and what you do is is very vague… to sco chasers as the new hot topic since the first reports came out is Sony be doomed!!!
Yea Sony has alot of portions of their org that have had these types of issues but you’d never know cause the gaming media is to busy kissing Sony’s ass to report on those issues from them.
I don’t really like jumping to conclusions, even if it seems there’s a lot of sus stuff going on at PS and I say this as someone that really dislikes current Sony which is a shame as the PS1 and 2 are my favourite consoles ever but the amount of stories that are coming out about the company that is just seemingly getting ignored by these big outlets is wild
The amount of shit Xbox was getting between delays, Redfall, layoffs and everything else would have you believe that Xbox was going through some serious shit and yet iv barely heard a peep about PS despite the endless drama coming from that place
I’d prefer these outlets to stick purely to the news instead of exaggerating every damn thing when it comes to Xbox but that’s never going to happen, so if you can’t do that, at least keep the same energy with PS
If it came out that Phil was stepping down, Xbox had little to no games announced, high ups getting fired, their studios getting forced into GaaS, huge price increases to GP and whatever else the Xbox equivalent would be, it would be all everyone would be talking about

If the media is not going to keep the same energy when reporting all the issues going on at Sony then at least back off all the stupid click bait bullshit they spew towards Xbox.
I think all we want as a community is to be left alone and or see things treated fairly across the board.
