Someone superchat Jeff’s Game Mess that said 343 should be praised for putting out both modes and sticking to update multiplayer in the long run. Jeff is with him, agreed that it’s pretty good.
Helldivers 2 could feel the pressure from being the first release of live service game.
Just to correct you Factor Five closed after Lair and Free Radical after Haze.
Yeah Jeff really likes Halo Infinite.
If he liked it during its slow period, he definitely would love what it is today.
I would definitely welcome this same message from Haven that they are pivoting to an epic single player experience and away from… whatever Fairgame$ is.
Fairgame$ may turn out to be a good game but those hipster character design looks really bad to me.
That was it, my bad, and thanks for correcting me - memory’s a bit hazier lately (no pun intended).
if was xbox instead, it will rain of headlines, saying xbox is dead, is gonna be third party, etc.
Jesus what a rough year it’s been for Sony. This is not how you want to to end things while Xbox are announcing Blade and OD.
“What’s going on in Xbox”
“Why you should worry about Xbox”
“Is Xbox going to survive as problems continue to rise?”
“Xbox continue to lose reason to invest your time”
But Jim Ryan departure has nothing to do with that, like letting his premium studio work on a GAAS game - now cancelled - for many years.
“They cancelled a game, they should have cancelled the box”
Naughty Dog : Let us cook!
I think it would be more broad deflection.
“Sony drops long-awaited GaaS” to “Are GaaS on the decline or even necessary?”
and
“Layoffs at specific Sony studio” would become “Industry rocked by layoffs again” with the lede being buried in the article.
This is exactly what’s happening. The framing is “Let’s celebrate, ND is making two new single player games which is what we all wanted anyway! Everything is great!”
Which is fine, but saying you’re making a game is different than that game being real and actually happening. They also said for years that they were making Factions, so…
I don’t mean to be super down on Naughty Dog because I like their games. But Sony’s premier studio wasting 4 years on a cancelled project and not currently having any announced games is kinda, ya know… bad. I don’t think I’m going too far out on a limb here in saying that’s concerning.
Just imagine if this was 343 or something. There’d be blood in the streets.
Seeing people saying that Naughty Dog cancelling a game “is a win for us gamers” makes me think that I’ve now seen it all.
If only their fanbase held Sony accountable for mistakes Sony may improve over time. But since their fanbase just rolls over for Sony at every turn it will probably just keep getting worse for them.
With Sony most of their top devs have been caught up in the GAAS push Jim was going for, so even if they reverse all that now you have years of wasted dev on GAAS that does not result in anything and then 3-5 years before a viable SP game is made from these studio’s.
Sony’s mid gen line up for the PS5 is looking like a disaster.
