Jason Schreier: Sony’s Obsession With Blockbusters Is Stirring Unrest Within PlayStation Empire

Lol, not me. I don’t get demoralized by videogames.

Yeah, fair point. Let’s move this discussion to the studios thread if it needs to continue further. But I don’t think it has to.

Gears 5 sold 15 million gamepass subscriptions.

The Coallitions next game isn’t a remaster.

It hasn’t been cancelled either.

Miles Morales isn’t a AAA game.

You are concern trolling.

This is a weird post. Game sales shouldn’t make you feel down and inferior. But if you do care about that stuff. Didn’t Sea of Thieves cross 20 million players recently and Flight Simulator was a success on PC. Its probably going to be huge when it hits Gamepass Xbox too.

Xbox has 23 devs and over 30 groups within those devs making games. It is literally impossible for Xbox to not be pumping out tons of exclusives soon.

Meanwhile Sony is closing studios and forced to buy timed exclusives to keep their gaming portfolio up.

Things are going to be vastly different in 2 years

This is not true

Virtually all Gamepass releases are outperforming Playstation exclusives. Even GROUNDED in an unfinished state outperformed Guns of Satsuma.

I wanted to punch my pet lizard because other people was having fun and I was not…

Take a deep breath, drink your favorite beer and don’t let it get to you. Its just toys, you should not feel demoralized by it. Even as a Xbox fan the time to feel bad was maybe 2013, now it looks great.

I personally have enough games in my backlog to overcome some Covid drought. If this is not the case for you maybe borrow a Switch or PS5 from your friends?

I agree with them their recent moves prove it tbh

For my gaming taste, Gears Tactics is better than every single Sony exclusive there is. I don’t care about the sales, the MC, the GOTY awards, the fawning by gaming sites, that stuff means jack. I don’t give a rat’s ass about these so called “bangers” from Sony, for me, every game they have is “whatever” that’s why I’m in the Xbox ecosystem and not PlayStation. Anyone who feels demoralized by what Sony has or is doing in comparison to MS should either find a way to get the money to buy both consoles or definitely sell their Xbox and get a PlayStation. No one should be that unhappy about their gaming console choice.

Comparisons like these are largely flawed, inaccurate, or unnecessary.

Not really! I don’t even have access to those games.

Although, I do want to play the Spidey game. I love it. But not because its a banger and do numbers on charts. I simply like the game and want to play it.

I have access to the games on Gamepass. The only down I feel is because I don’t have much time to play all of those games😜

Edit : didn’t notice which thread it was. Why are we even discussing it here :person_facepalming:

Don’t feel demoralized at all, in fact I’m happy for the fans of those games and their success which in turn will help Xbox do better as well. My friend bought a PS5 at launch with Miles Morales and he loved it, and eventually I will buy a PS5 too and buy all the exclusives deeply discounted and have a ton of fun with their great games.

Seems to be common theme of one/some turning every thread into a doom and gloom for Xbox. I wish they would stop it.

I don’t know, that sounds just a little tone deaf what with the price of Sony’s games being $70 now and it costs even more in other territories. For a lot of people they can only get the games once they come down in price.

Right. They said the silent part aloud.

That’s the inherent risk of budgeting for Blockbusters titles when they may not pull Blockbuster sales. That’s not only impacting Sony, but the entire industry. Its why there are so many acquisitions and investments going on. It may be even riskier to do that now in a pandemic when potentially even less of your consumer market can afford the $70/80 titles.
