Welcome to the forums!
Hello everyone,
first of all I’d like to thank the XboxEra staff for their great work so far! I’ve grown weary of all the toxicity in most gaming communities and strongly believe a dedicated team of individuals is able to provide a safe haven to everyone interested in civil discourse, even in an anonymous environment like a forum.
In 1987 I spent a few weeks with one of my aunts and my favourite cousin. We spent way too much time on his C64, primarily with Maniac Mansion, playing through it time after time after time after… Just to see all the little changes to the game depending on the characters you select for your playthrough.
I had been playing games before that, but Maniac Mansion really made me fall in love with them. Point & Click Adventures to this day are one of my favourite genres, along with all sorts of RPGs, Turn-Based Strategy and First and Third Person Shooters / Action Adventures.
Nowadays I mostly play alone or with my wife, mostly due to the lack of chilled gamers around me. Life’s stressful enough and though I love me some competitive Gears or Battlefield, I want to be able to play shitty or goof around without being yelled at. At 40 years of age I am too old for this shit!
Together with two friends I run two businesses, one of them focussing on sustainable, eco-friendly products sold through our onlinestore and various marketplaces like Amazon. Time’s a rare commodity for me, but I still try to squeeze in a couple of gaming hours every week. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
Some quick tidbits: Hailing from Germany, close to the Dutch border; love American football, basketball and soccer; animals > people; only pets at home right now are two ball pythons named Luvana and Shaitan; used to write a lot of fiction when I still had time.
I’m really curious to follow this community’s development and hope to find some time to post here regularly. If not, I’ll be watching you! Beware of the lurker!
Never had an Xbox but I like where Xbox is going and I like their consumer friendly approach. Also how do I change my username? There’s a typo in it
Hey all, good to be here with you. It’s fun to read all the intros! Here’s mine:
I’m a 34 year old American, working in “big tech”. Have enough friends at Microsoft that I could probably dig for “insider” news but looking at Ed that seems like way more trouble than it’s worth Originally from Michigan but now on the west coast with the rest of the tech bros (though I am not a very good bro).
Otherwise, just somebody who’s been obsessed with games for as long as I knew about them. Earliest memories are Marathon on the Mac, Super Mario Land on my Game Boy, then later just days and days of WarCraft, StarCraft, Diablo, Morrowind, Half Life, all that late 90s/early 2000s PC stuff.
My first console was the GameCube at age 20. Then a PS2, a Wii, PSP, PS3, PS4, Vita, and finally in 2017 got my first Xbox. Currently play on Xbox One X, Switch, and PS4. Series X will be my first next gen system, I love the PC-style drop in upgrade. Houses are small out here and I don’t have a PC setup anymore.
I’m generally a fan of weird shit but also unironically enjoyed playing through the entire Gears series, Halo series, got a platinum in a couple Uncharted games so I certainly have nothing against mainstream AAA. Feel like I have pretty broad taste and can find the good in almost any game. Currently playing The Messenger and Halo Wars 2 which feels on brand for me lol.
I found the Xbox OT on Reset looking for E3 2018 news and saw that, for the most part, it was a pretty cool little community that actually seemed to enjoy talking and being positive. And so here I am
(Oh, and if it’s not clear from the above you’ll find I love to talk. Maybe too much.)
Welcome! Being talkative is a good thing around here.
Can you send me a message? We’ll work it out.
Welcome, I’m sure you’ll like the diversity of games we’ll be getting over the next generation.
Welcome and I hope I speak for all when I say that we appreciate gamers from all walks of life and ability! Different perspectives and appreciation, or criticism, of a company’s stance on our gaming friends of varying able-ness is much needed: when we all play, everybody wins!
Hello everyone.
Im from Lisbon, Portugal , 42 years old. ICT engineer.
im gamer since ZX Spectrum. MSX … bla , bla
XBox all the way, but i have to skip Xbox One and go to PS4. Is time to go again to Microsoft? series X?
Maybe you help me do decide
I would always go with the console you think you play the most games. And if you are MP junkie (coop or competitive) I also would take into consideration where your friends are.
Take me for an example: Game Pass until into the midst of 2022, mostly SP mixed with coop, but almost never competitive MP: Easy decision Xbox Series X (even I also own a PS4). Most “friends” are on Xbox too. I think the only one I have friended on PSN is actually @Shpeshal_Nick LOL
P.S. And welcome of course
Thank you for your Welcone
I think , i dont have PC for gaming, just my laptop for work and a iMac for family,
So, the game changer is “gamepass” with series X.
i think in the long run Microsoft will Win if gamepass are feeded in a regular basis with good games.
no doubt about the future is a “cloud and services.”.
I am my early 20s, working and studying for a degree in accounting
I had a PS2 until I got a PS4. My first Xbox was the FH3 Hot wheels I got and started to see Xbox wasn’t bad with that. After E3 2018 I eventually found resetera and lurked the Xbox thread since I could not make an account. I followed the Xboxera twitter for a while now. Now with Xbox investing in RPGs and flight sim lasting 10 years I plan to get a series X.
Thank you for providing a forum to discuss in. It will be a much better experience than Reddit or Twitter for sure.
Welcome to this website! And FH3 Hot Wheels is a great starting point.
Thank you.
It was. It changed my mind on Xbox own it’s own.
Welcome. Always glad to see another Sega fan joining us here. What is your top Sega game across all the generations?
mine? Easy, Phantasy Star Online. I have my section ID tattooed on my arm. I do have a soft spot for Sonic. Growing up, I had chronic asthma and seeing a character that i could play as running and jumping and being active whereas I could not, It was a really big part of my life.
am Steve 42 from the uk been gaming all my life right from my first pc spectrum 128k and almost every console that has been released. also started streaming few months ago on fb. am married with 1 daughter who also has followed in my love of gaming and Xbox. as I said I have owned almost every console that came out but always came back to Xbox now spend my time split between Xbox one x and pc. looking forward to getting my hands on the new series x on day of launch. here’s to many more years gaming
Hi, 43 year old Dutch gamer here. Xbox (One X) as.primary console, but also have a PS4 (launch unit) and Switch, both for exclusives.
Started out on a C64, then went PC for a long time, but after getting RSI like complaints moved to console… First one was a GameCube, then OG Xbox. Missed out on a lot of classics on older consoles but I’m catching up.
Happy to see an Xbox centric forum!
Welcome! Pull up a chair, make yourself comfortable!
