Greetings, I’m Devin. Feel free to call me Devin, Rex, etc.

I play Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and I’m excited for the upcoming consoles this gen. I also make memes from time to time. I’m also glad that there is a community for Xbox fans without the toxicity.

Wishing all the best.

Welcome!

Hi, I’m Ilhan, 38 years old from Paris, France. First memories of video game coming from arcade games on summer holidays. My father was an informatician so I grew up with computer games. Later I had the Megadrive, I was kinda a segaboy. Always like being on the outsider side  I played next consoles like the Playstation 1 and 2 and gamecube/wii (even the 3DO) at friends places. Got back to owning a console with the Xbox 360 and PSP GO. Now I’m only gaming on Xbox, sometimes (rarely) on my PC, or the mini Neo-Geo.

I play bass in Hardcore and metal bands, you can check my actual band here

And a glimpse of differents things I a have done in my “career”

I’m one of the older gamers. Let me just breathe a sigh of relief that this forum and this site is here. After turning 50, I got frustrated and tired that people felt the need to crap on my hobby. I just want to enjoy playing with my friends and family on Xbox and talk games, the business or whatever you want.

Fellow Xbox fans, I have your back.

Peace.

Hi!

I’m 29 and from the UK.

I’ve been playing on Xbox since the first console when I was young. Before that my family were Sega fans and we had their consoles besides the Saturn.

Right now I play on both my XB1 and Switch and have much love for them both.

I don’t think anyone here knows me because I wasn’t a member on RE. So there’s a lorra lorra bunch of people here and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all.

Already posted an essay introduction in the announcement thread, but in case people dont look in there, ill post an abridged version here

Used to lurk on resetera, but never had a professional email so never joined or posted, often took massive gaps for sanity reasons and hoping for a more relaxed community here.

Play mainly xbox since 360 years, first major console was PS1, before then i had an original gameboy and my earliest gaming moments are a Best Of Entertainment collection on my dads windows 95 PC inclu/ Chips Challenge, Pipe Dream and Ski Fri, it also had tetris that but didnt appeal to 4 year old me. Currently have a One X as my main console but also have ps4 and a whole range of retro consoles and a couple early home computers, one that currently needs a new keyboard membrane

28 male (29 on the release date of the Outer Worlds first DLC pack) from the UK, currently work a tedious finance job part time, but studied Computer games art at university until 2015 and wanting to become an Envrionment Artist, quuite lucky to live in the UK where theres a great deal of Studios to apply to, I have my mind set on one particular studio though that I dont wanna drop the name of on fear I may jinx it, but im sure ill leave plenty hints all over the place(feel life is passing me by too quick so if i aint got a game industry job byu next year, Im thinking I may need to seriously start looking at another career path, probably selling Propane and Propane Accessories

Mike. 40 (something; stopped counting) from Washington State. I’m “differently-abled” due to some life and work related injuries. The life injuries (fractured spine at 16-years-old) pushed me to video games as a way to experience things I no longer could. Thankfully I’m still walking, working, and parenting while doing much better than my prognosis was at that age!

I’ve definitely receded from gaming in recent years as a father of a kid on the Autism Spectrum Scale. That, coupled with work, drained me and has taken all my effort. However, we’re making progress and the kid is branching out into his pre-college IT studies and excited about the move to the XSX.

Over the last few years, work injuries (hand/elbow ligament and nerve damage) and age (budding arthritis) have made playing a bit more difficult. Xbox designed the only controller I can use long term comfortably. Xbox, PC, Playstation . . . if I can’t use the xbox controller, I don’t play it (I’ve not delved into the Switch, yet). That’s one reason XSX is day-one for me. That, and all my family are in the ecosystem. I’ve been bitter about my break-up with Sony ever since they slapped the analog sticks on their awesome PS1 controller as an afterthought. I haven’t yet felt the need to pay the fee for the Astro or similar models to re-join the Sony system. Xbox developing the adapter controller made me appreciate the company’s attention for people a bit different.

This overly depressing narrative showed the negativity and exclusion many seem to display as far back as the early OG Xbox days. It’s led me to become a lurker. I avoid all the mainstream social media outlets for similar reasons. The callousness and bitterness is overwhelming. Yet, the youtube video and introduction to Xboxera convinced me to branch out. Just a bit. So far, I’ve enjoyed the positive posts here immensely!

Hi! Name’s Will.

I’m a 21-year-old freelance journalist and critic for a leading Xbox fansite (not giving my name or its for privacy’s sake). Before then, I just wrote BuzzFeed-style quizzes so a definite step up in the quality of my output and job satisfaction. I’m also a BComm student at the University of Toronto Rotman Commerce (pursuing a degree in Marketing) who hopes to one day work as a Product Manager for one of Xbox’s studios (in a perfect world PlayGround or Obsidian).

Other than that, here are four truths and a lie!

  1. I am openly Autistic/have Asperger’s

  2. I only joined the Xbox family a few years back, but have played Xbox for years at my friend’s house and my cousin’s place.

  3. I play on all major platforms except PS4

  4. I don’t care for Halo

  5. It is a toss-up between Gears and Forza for my favourite Xbox IP, but I love Rare hence Joanna.

The Lie: 4 is the lie, I love Halo. My favourite FPS game.

Anyhow, here’s a picture of my Dog from the Pet Photos thread.

As a father of an ASD kid (see my post above), I’m happy you are comfortable sharing! This is a life skill we are still working with my kid on; acceptance and ignoring the “shaming” that comes with misunderstanding of this spectrum.

Yours or not, that’s a cute dog!

Thanks! Yeah, it’s a wide spectrum for sure, and I only really came into acceptance at 16. For some of my friends, it was as early as 8 or late as 30+. It can be hard, especially with how misunderstood it can be. You seem like a great Dad acknowledging its importance. Your kid is lucky to have you!

Hi all, I’m a Seattle/PNW native currently living overseas in Germany. I love being outdoors, hiking, exploring, and traveling with my partner. I’d consider myself a minor “foodie” and a bit of a beer/coffee snob.

I’m a platform agnostic person, I just enjoy playing games. I grew up mainly playing on computers in school with games such as Carmen San Diego, Oregon Trail, Number Munchers, and Odell Lake. When we finally got a 386 PC at home, I played a lot of Commander Keen and other shareware. Eventually, got into Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox and now here we are on the precipice of a new gen. Exciting times! I hope to see gaming move forward in terms of interactivity with the worlds, ease of access/accessibility, and improving storytelling. Looking forward to new, empowered voices in the industry taking risks and trying new things.

Hi XboxEra!

I’m a 31 year old man from Italy. Been playing videogames since 1997, when my parents gave me a PlayStation for my birthday; except playing with the PC for some time (but it’s not my cup of coffee), I’ve been mainly a console guy: I grew up with PlayStation (the original one and the PS2), then in 2008 I fell in love with Xbox with the Xbox 360, got my PS3 2 years later. And in the current generation I picked up just Xbox One, looking forward to the new generation.

I don’t have an absolutely favorite genre I like to play, but I’m very bad at first-person games, because the controls are very different (and more difficult to manage) from third-person games, even though when I find a game that intrigues me, I at least try it. I hope I’ll have a great time here!

Hi all

I’m Mike, a 26 year old guy from the UK. Also been gaming since 97 with PlayStation as my first console. Was always PlayStation until I got a 360 for my birthday and haven’t looked back. Although I’ve been gaming for a while I didn’t truly fall in love with any game til Mass Effect came out. The game blew me away and I’ve been a massive fan of RPGs since then

I did stop gaming for around 5 years and only joined next gen in 2018 with the One X so I’ve had a lot to catch up on. Huge fan of game pass (my backlog is getting bigger every week though :sob:) as I’ve started to play games I never normally would.

Father of a 2 year old boy Huge Liverpool fan Mostly listen to rock music Love anime and manga

I lurked on other sites but this is my first time joining a forum and I look forward to being a part of this community.

Hi all! I’m Huntersknoll. I’m a 28 and from Philadelphia.

I’ve been gaming since I was small. I’ve always had PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. I bought my first Xbox when the Xbox One X came out. I really liked Phil’s vision and wanted to support it. I primarily play on Xbox now and use my PS4 and Nintendo for exclusives. I enjoy all types of games but my favorite are RPGs and MMORPGS. I’m hoping this next gen we will be getting more MMORPGs for consoles.

Other than games I enjoy my two cats and watching wrestling (NJPW and AEW)

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone!
