Series X
I have it purchased it for Xbox and just waiting to get the Series X next week. Where did the game crash? And losing game saves because of a crash is weird. Did it crash while it was auto-saving?
The game has crashed twice, during the same encounter (acquiring the Crystal Shadow Hammer). The first time the game saves were blown away, the second time game saves were fine. But I thought it very strange as well that saves were affected from a crash, even of the randomness of which saves did not get affected is odd. Anyways, after 30 mins of devastating disappointment from my son, he got over it and jumped back into the game.
Edit: Both crashes occured mid battle, so not during an auto-save.
You or your son should try completing another area or puzzle and then go back to that Crystal Shadow Hammer encounter and see if it happens again. It could be a bug because it’s being “activated” at the wrong time which is causing the issue.
Glad to hear that your son jumped back into the game after 30 minutes.
The second crash was our attempt to identify/recreate the bug, which we were able to do. Same encounter, with as close to the same conditions as possible. The third time I told my son to change up the scenario and he was able to progress with no issues (thank goodness).
That’s good that he was able to pass it. Sometimes, it’s just weird bugs that happens based on your “path” playing the game. Change up the “path”, eliminate the bugs.
I’ve played for 16 hours so far and the game didn’t crash on me yet.
This game supports Ubisoft Connect. Weren’t you guys able to recover a save from the Ubisoft Cloud? @Munki @SpiderLink
Talking about the game: I am 16 hours in, maximized my Skills tree and I’m still on the first island lol
You maxed out all the skills on the first island??? Wow. What difficulty level are you playing on?
The game ran smooth as butter right before the issue. So we never bothered to use the cloud save feature as you have to manually select which game save(s) you want to back up. Since then I told him to back up at least two of his most recent saved games.
Not all of the Skills, only the Skills Tree. There is a Skills Tree, a Godly Powers Tree and a Potion Tree.
You upgrade yours Skills and Godly Powers by using Coins of Charon, which are earned by completing certain type of challenges in the map. By completing every challenge in the first island I had enough coins to maximize my Skills Tree (this tree involves upgrading Climbing, Flying, Running, Dodging, etc.).
You need a total of 269 Coins of Charon to maximize both the Skills and Godly Powers Trees. After you fully upgrade each tree you can use more coins to earn “Mastery Points” to further upgrade them.
The Potion Tree requires a different item to be upgraded: Golden Ambers.
I’m playing on Normal. The combat can be tough if you don’t upgrade enough of your health, vigor and potions. You definitely want to have some potions in hand before the boss fights.
I never used the Ubisoft save, so I didn’t know you had to manually upload your saves to the cloud. From my experience with Valhalla I believed that my autosave was automatically uploaded since I had the option to load a save from the cloud, even though I had never manually uploaded it.
Yeah, you manually select which save file(s) you want to send to the cloud, with a maximum of 4 saves.
Oh okay. Gotcha. I thought you upgraded everything and I was like, damn. lol.
I know the coin and God powers and whatnot. I simply thought you upgrade everything so that’s why I was surprised.
Can’t wait to play Immortals…so looking forward to it as it seems like a great game and hidden gem.
Part 2 went up today. Part 3 on Friday. I’ll most likely be doing a Monday, Wednesday, Friday cadence for all future releases on this and other games ![]()
Game looks dam great bu I have yet to complete Dragon Quest 11 and even for that I find no time… since my exams are starting next month… after that I have time!
when I have time I play Sea of Thieves
Oh man, two days is rough, I feel for your son
It happened at the hall of the gods, I saw that there was some kind of timed vault challenge and attempted it. I clearly didn’t have the abilities necessary so I left and it hung on a black screen for several minutes before crashing.
I think this is the case, since I was transitioning back to the overworld. It’s just weird that the last auto-save was so old, since I had fast-traveled a lot and opened a bunch of chests, and even cleared a few vaults. Series X by the way. I think I’ll take a page out of Munki Jr’s book and jump back in ![]()
Like Munki, I hadn’t used the online save function, so there was nothing to recover!
Ran into another bug, which might possibly be related to the other issue my son and I ran into yesterday. The issue now is receiving the error message “save file corrupted” when attempting to save the game, this occurs in both manual and automatic saves. The workround is to force quit the game, once you jump back in the ability to save games is restored. If you do ever see this message, force quit ASAP to avoid losing your progress.
Dam. Sux to hear there’s an issue with saves. I had the game crash a few times but I’m one of those ppl who saves every few minutes and has multiple save files lol. I never lost any progress on my crashes lucky for me. I hope they get that fixed cuz the game was great.
Oh man, that sucks! Thanks for posting the solution, you’re a class act.

I’m having a blast with this game. Looks great at 60 fps too.
First title in a long time that I’ve bought at almost full price and I’m not regretting it at all. What I especially like is that the map isn’t stupidly large and overwhelming.
Only 5 hours in, but so far so good.
