I finished the base game a few minutes ago, defeating Typhon. Overall, an excellent game for me. Really enjoyed it. Never knew I wanted a BOTW type game until seeing and playing Immortals. LOL. Hoping the game sells extremely well so it can be a franchise as I would love to see other mythologies in a stylized world.
My biggest negative was the controller configuration as too many commands assigned to the same button after I changed around the configuration. I didn’t parry at all especially since I have never been good at it in any game so I assigned it to up on the directional pad. Also, I didn’t use a single offensive or defensive buff potion.
Played on hard with a lot of the enemy detection meters off on the HUD. Total play time was just over 100 hours. I am disappointed that you can’t go back into the world to wrap up stuff unless you load the pre-Typhon save. I had 5 things left to do in the world plus 90% of stuff on King’s Peak. Not sure if im going to go back and do that stuff since the first expansion A New God releases tomorrow and I may just start that instead. Also, with the second and third expansions not featuring Fenyx, I wonder if your character’s progress carries over with the other protagonists in those expansions or if they’re separate.

Story was good with a few twists. Kept me engaged and interested the entire way through. A decent amount of sexual innuendos and other current things mentioned which surprised me but then I realized it was a TEEN rated game. I thought it was an E rated game. LOL. The narration was solid for the most part. Some parts better than others and a little lame here and there but overall, better than I was expecting going into the game.
Optional Side Content 10/10 (superb)
Absolutely loved all the side content in the game. Especially the vaults and puzzles. So damn good. The only side content I didn’t like was a time trial from Hermes that was on the prologue region early on in the game. Thankfully, it was a one time thing so I didn’t even mind it.
Overall 9.0/10 (excellent)
What a great way for me to kick off current gen with an excellent open world action adventure game with gorgeous visuals, excellent combat and gameplay, a good story, great audio and side content that I not only enjoyed doing but fit the world perfectly.
Not so sure about the DLC for this game… The new one out today apparently is focused on vaults, which were my least favorite aspect of the base game tbh, and in the upcoming ones you don’t even play as Fenyx.
I purchased the Digital Gold Edition back in November so im all in. I will tryout A New God tomorrow. I am more hyped for the second and third expansions but at the same time, I loved the vaults in the base game. Oh man. So freaking great.
I don’t mind not playing as Fenyx. Second expansion is set in Chinese mythology so it makes sense not to play as Fenyx. I’m really looking forward to this expansion and the isometric one. I also believe that the Chinese mythology expansion is a hint for the next Assassin’s Creed game.
Nah, havent touched TV calibration in ages. It’s literally just gameplay while playing the DLC. Strangely enough the main game menu, HUD, base game and any other game for that matter are totally normal.
Both pictures are right from the beginning as I don’t have the time to start playing the game but as you can see, both images look very bright and clear. Does the beginning when you meet Hermes look dark or bright?

You’re welcome. If you’re early on in the DLC. Maybe uninstall it and then reinstall it. When I start playing tomorrow, if it gets/goes darker than those pictures, I will let you know.
I think I figured it out. What is your “Exposure” within the game settings set to? For some reason mine was set to the lowest setting (-2.0). Bumped it up to 0.0 and all seems normal now. Thanks for all the help my friend.
You’re welcome and that’s good. Whatever the default levels are for HDR, brightness, etc. when you first start the base game is what they’re set at. I never change any of that stuff in game.
Theres a demo on xbox, I played it yesterday and its very good, the gameplay is very good and the visuals are top notch, its polished. However the content is not really for me to spend money on it, if it was with gamepass I would give it a whirl though.
I’ve been playing the demo on Epic Store and goddamn the game is gorgeous as hell!
Also, the game itself feels pretty fun to play. The tone is refreshing and the humor although hit-and-miss lol is still not half as bad, and plays into the quirky nature of the narrative they’re going for.
Not going to lie, I started playing A New God and after two hours, I dropped it. It’s good but after 100+ hours, I have had my fill of Immortals plus im way more hyped and interested in Myths of the Eastern Realm and The Lost Gods.
Boo!!! Sad/disappointed to hear it. What about it that rubbed you the wrong way? I’m personally loving it, it’s basically all the stuff I loved about the main game concentrated into a tight little package.
