Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay Reveal

I wont say its a proper RPG, its mostly an Action Adventure game with RPG elements baked in. You just talk to get quests and moving the story further, similar to Far Cry games. Your choices don’t make even a dime of a difference.

It’s definitely not a proper RPG but I think they handled the illusion of choice at least fairly well and I was hoping they might dive more into it to further differentiate the series from the competition.

Nice Bullshots. The good part is we are moving closer and closer to this edited bullshots.

Looks great but doesnt seem like something that couldn’t run on ps4 no?

do we know if this was a vertical slice of the game or not?

I had just finished the Far Cry 3 (Remaster) when I played HZD for the first time, the similarities are striking. Everything from enemy camps, the skill tree and crafting was borderline rip-offs from Far Cry. HZD is great in many ways, but outside the dinobots it’s neither original nor an RPG in any sense.

But we might have to look at the PS4 version first. I guess the effects/ lighting/textures are going to be turned down a lot.

Man, the FOV is so low, it’s a bit disappointing, Aloy almost covers half the screen in the 3rd shot. Low FOV probably allowed them to crank the graphics a bit.

Yes exactly. Where it excels it the unique setting/world and premise of the games. Rest is pretty mediocre, but still a really good game.

He certainly looks sharper.

Yes I mentioned that in my summary. I feel like they are compensating FOV for fidelity so that they can have more detailed/dense stuff on the screen.

The reason for the long 5–6-hour stream is views, people tuning in at any moment during the 6 hours are counted as unique viewers on YouTube, its partly to artificially inflate the views.

If its 30fps Im tad dissatisfied so I hope we get a 60fps option.

The expectation is the game is coming later this year or early next. What were seeing should be pretty mature.

Im surprised its not more open, theres quite a few artificial corridors, probably due to it being cross gen.

My thoughts exactly. Enjoyed it a lot, Frozen Wilds was a lot better than the main game too. (It even had more than 2-3 NPC models! I was so confused while playing the game, "haven’t I allready talked to this guy? But it’s a new area… Nope, just the same face, again.)

I think he meant it looks similar due to the environments (more colourful and varied). I have yet to play Hivebusters myself, but everyone who played it says it looks amazing visually and also 60 fps

Yeah, I got some HIvebusters vibes too.

There will be a 60 FPS mode, I’m pretty sure, maybe at 1080p or something. That’s a good compromise I think. But yeah, after getting most games at 60 this gen, it will be hard to go back. I mean, even TLoU2 is 60 on PS5.

Its certainly not far off, FW has more environmentally detail, but hivebusters has more vegitation that moves when you walk through it, so its really different floats for different boats. But personally overall they seem to be of a very similar quality visually, and if FW remains 30fps, I think I eould prefer hivebusters overall.
