Anyone know if they ever fixed customs?
Iâm just wondering when weâre gonna get Infection, Extraction, and Assault. We know these game modes are in the files. Guess they might be mid-Season 2 or Season 3, even.
Iâm pretty sure they havenât.
Maybe we should skip season 2 and wait for season 3 to play the game. That way the combined content might add up to what used to called a map pack in the other games. Those map packs came out within 3 months of launch too.
Just view it as a 9 month long beta.
I have zero interest in a large number of maps being put into the game. Keep the quality at the top of what is possible and release a few a year. The map vomit of old during a gameâs lifecycle always pulled me out of things, because it meant I had to wait for days sometimes to play a round on one I liked.
I donât play a lot of GaaS games but I feel like adding 1 arena and 1 BTB map every season is reasonable.
Itâs unfortunate that they started with so few and it would have been nice to see more in a 6 month season though.
The population will die without content.the entire first year is going to be spent bringing infinite to content complete as it is. Doubles, ranked slayer, infection, grifball, co-op, forge.
Completely evident that the game needed another year. Itâs either that or 343 are far too concerned with the cosmetics and battlepass.
At this pace ranked slayer and doubles will be listed as a pillar of season 3 or 4. God this free to play shit sucks. Take me back.
And fyi games like halo 2,3, and reach had 3x the post release content, and their quality where fucking fantastic.
Sure they had more content, they were also horrific to work on and unhealthy for all involved. This part of the update lays out pretty clearly why theyâll have this type of update cadence.
The main issue is not the post launch content, its the launch content itself, having delayed for more six months could had it feature standard at launch. There was no way this game was going to be released in 2020, it was no Gears 4 closed alpha situation, 343i had scrapped a whole game when you see the artbook pages and was sweating bullets with the final incarnation, it really goes back to Halo 2 where they had to redo the game.
There is another term for âfree-for-all elimination modeââŚBattle Royale.
I donât think the reason that the piss poor post release content is so poor is developer health.
Infinite has one of the worst post release content timelines Iâve ever seen for a GAAS title. I think itâs ridiculous to assume that past halo games had more post release content because either a) they didnât care about the quality of the content or b) that they where working everyone to death(the only documented game to do B is halo 5)
The only 3 things that are evident to me are that
-
halo infinite really should have been delayed. They had to cut tons of corners to get it out last holiday and they are paying the price now. Too much of the team are working on things that should have been at launch like forge, co-op campaign and co-op modes, Spartan career stats and leveling system, broken custom games, basic modes that have been in every single halo game at launch.
-
free to play sucks. Sure the game launched more barebones than any main halo game since 2. Their post release schedule for real content has been horrendous but the game launch with a great amount of paid cosmetics. Theyâve released plenty mid season too. Oh ya and the only leveling system in the game is tied to their battlepass⌠how convenient.

the slipspace engine has been an absolute disaster. The whole point of it was to increase content delivery speed to the player. The exact opposite has happened.
Damn what a disaster. The more I think about it the worse it makes me feel. They pushed season 2 to may so they could have a âmeaningful amount of content for the second seasonâ.
Donât tell me the map release cadence is this bad because 343 are only putting out amazing maps. Do I think theyâve done a good job in that category, yes I do but they already put 2 maps on the back burner.
My ranked group of friends are gunna laugh me out of the room when I tell them that we are gunna go from essentially 4 maps in ranked to 5.
What if the new map isnât in ranked plsylists
I respectfully disagree with that - not all of the post release content for those games were fantastic, especially not Reach.
Letâs not forget - 343i is still doing this in a pandemic setting.
Also, give the game atleast one year post release - then we can have a proper discussion.
Lol donât start. I think I feel the content scarcity worse than most because I essentially only play ranked. I play a little btb to warm up but thatâs it.
I honestly wouldnât personally be upset with the 7 arena map count IF they where all in ranked. But since thereâs essentially only 4 maps in ranked(odds reduced for 2 of the 5 maps, one severely reduced) and ONE playlist. I feel the pain worse than most.
I am not saying the game does not have its issues because it definitely does, but to say that the game will die is going a bit over the top.
Just looking at halo 2 and 3. Halo 2 had a bunch of great add on maps. Sanctuary, turf, elongation, relic and terminal standout to me. Halo 3 had cold storage, stand-off, rats nest, avalanche, and ghost town.
Havenât 343 been in office since like October?
I donât mean that the games dead, or that I think it will. On console at least. Pretty much dying on pc right now acording to steam.
But any GAAS free to play game with no content post release wonât thrive. It could be doing a lot better than it is on pc and console though. I just want this game to do well, and for all my shooter buddies to come back. But they are over the 4 maps in ranked and one playlist.
And whoâs saying it wonât have any content? I mean youâre literally responding to a blog post detailing the next content to be added lol.
I remember Apex started off with the wrong foot too and didnât get better until like Season 3, and look at where that gameâs at.
I would recommend just changing games until season 2 or 3 drops, thatâs always been allowed, no shame in setting it aside.
no, not at all. Microsoft as a whole hasnât returned to office yet.
