Halo |OT2| Forging Ahead

Very possible.

Depends on how much agency it has.

It needs to feel like it is its own game onto it self.

These keep getting better and better.

Honestly, I think it’s just as likely that the game at some point gets a relaunch from a marketing perspective.

When you add something as big as tatanka, or a new campaign, there’s a point where you are basically marketing a psudo new game, and I think that’ll be their ace.

Season 3 would be a great time to do it. Go over a great new battle pass, proper progression, new equipment and maps, really push custom games browser and show off all the great Forge stuff made so far. Really stress the 3 month season by announcing the start and end date.

S3 will represent what the game should have been from the beginning, and I think that’s worthy of a massive marketing blowout. Something that says, “this is the free-to-play FPS you should be playing right now”.

Do all of this in February before the March 7th release and it gives Tatanka enough space if it’s announced at E3 for the Fall/Winter.

People talk about a possibly great 2023 for Xbox and I think Halo should be part of that.

Sidebar: Hopefully 343 adds FSR2.2 for consoles and as an option on PC especially if they’re adding ray traced shadows.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to this wheel moving?

OMG its live!

Today’s episode should be interesting, as I believe the plan is to make a tier list of sorts for Infinite and how it compares to other Halos in specific ways. Maps, sandbox, etc. Feel free to join, and if anyone has any questions they’d like us to answer, pop them on over in the podcast OT!

On the topic of Halo though, its kinda crazy just how fast I progressed through this event. I barely played this week and still am basically done.

I wonder if they’ll tune it to be a little slower, or if the 100 tier battlepass will give enough room for this speed to persist.

I might host some playtesting customs later if anyone would like to register their interest.

Yes, would like to try it out

Absolutely INSANE detail. 343 needs to hire these folks.

One of the two people who worked on this is a developer at 343i.

And Infinite Forges is an Environmental Artist at Gearbox.

Note: This isn’t a question for the pod. Just adding to your point.

I’ll be listening in while I shovel in -36°C temperatures!

I played a bit last night so I could actually get some of the Winter challenge offerings, and I got half of them with a few hours of playing. Which I truly appreciate because I now spend 1/10 at a time playing the game and 9/10 in Forge. My fear was missing out on all of these weekly goodies but the way they set it up allows me to do a lot of Forging and grab them at the same time.

So it works out well for someone like me, but I can see why people would want it to take a bit longer.

This is a problem with a lot of live service games, I’ve found. I play around a half hour of Vigor a day, and I’m just halfway through the Battle Pass with approximately 70% of the season gone. But when I hop on I’m playing against people who have maxed out the Battlepass for at least a month now. So within these live services you have casual players and hardcore players, so it’s a challenge to appease everybody. I enjoy Vigor, I think it sits in a unique space, but I think I’ll skip on the next battle pass so I can enjoy it at my own pace.

So while I love the current progression in Halo Infinite, I am definitely bracing for a change. I do think they won’t make it a total grind though, I’m confident they’ll find a middle ground because they’ve went between the two extremes.
