Halo Infinite dropped to 29th on the Most Played on Xbox here in Sweden… Lowest so far, previous was 27th before the Winter Update.
Lots of competition atm and I guess most people are done with the short Battle Pass.
I think it’s worth remembering that population count for live service games basically always go downwards between updates, with a big bump for new content. The goal isn’t to fix the game and magically get a bigger population, the goal is that every time they release an update it bumps up slightly higher than the last and when it does dip it stays a little bit higher than before too. It’s all about steady growth over time through regular content releases, which is hopefully the stage we’re starting on now.
Yes, I agree that’s the goal but that’s the opposite of what’s happening here. I do think that once things start rolling with Season 3 and onwards it will be better, but it’ll take time and a fast pace for content. I think they will do much better on that front in 2023.
This game won’t have the No Man Sky or Cyberpunk 2077 redemption in terms of popularity imo but nobody will ever be able to say Halo Infinite was a bad game or that 343 gave up on it.
That’s a W in my books.
As long as the fans who are still playing it are happy with the direction of the game then it doesn’t really matter if Halo never becomes that juggernaut that it used to be.

The redemption arc begins and we are in the process. Will it have a good ending? Only way to find out.
