Someone leak Halo Infinite’s multiplayer in here

I actually think Infinite SHOULD do a Battlefield style big player count, large map mode, as their fourth pillar in place of Warzone from Halo 5

And the fact that it would be very casual is exactly why I think it’s a good idea. It would be the perfect place for the mostly single player and Warzone and BTB crowds to hop in and have some non-try hard multiplayer fun. Where the pressure is off, as you’re not one of 4 or 6 guys on a team and everyone dead is watching and judging you, or blaming you for being bottom of the scoreboard at the end of a match. A mode like Conquest, and/or Rush could be tremendous fun, with wartohogs, tanks, ghosts, banshees, etc.

Whatever they do, please just lose the req system and the stupid PVE bosses where one team can do 99% of the damage and lose the kill to some RNG B.S. pot shot from the other team, for the last 1%

As far as Battle Royal, I know a lot of people hate it, and don’t want 343 to spread their focus by including it. I agree with that last sentiment. The clear path is having it be it’s own thing that is developed and continuously updated by a seperate dev team, with 343’s engine, assets and mostly hands-off supervision. Halo is so well suited for BR…it just is. And the attention it brings a franchise, when done well, is immense. Hard to turn that down

I don’t think battlefield works because what happens when you drive that warthog In the open for 1/2 a second and there’s 15 enemies looking at you? They each put 2 shots from their Br into it and it blows up in 1/2 a second.

In battlefield/ call of duty it’s fine because the TTK in in those games are already very very low. Also those games have recoil, and weapon sway so hitting targets are harder. They have bullet drop so the further you are away the harder it is to hit. Halo doesn’t have that stuff. Everyone has laser accuracy. If you take one step out in any fighting area you will be dead instantly.

How does 24v24, 32v32 or more work when your playing a game that’s designed around high ttk(time to kill), no recoil, no weapon sway, and no bullet drop?

Same thing can happen in a non tank ground vehicle in Battlefield. You can go down just as fast. So you have to be evasive and have people with you that can shoot back and hopefully kill the people who are trying to kill you…or you die and respawn

No big deal

Also, you’re making it sound like all 24, 32, or whatever enemy players are going to be bunched up in the same general area, shooting at your vehicle. It’s obviously going to need to be a bigger map than a typical Halo BTB map. So players will be much more spread out

Ya it needs to be big, but maps always have there hot spots. If you make it too big, most of the map will be a dead zone with no players. Fights will always happen in the popular or main pathways. This happened in warzone for 5 all the time.

I just struggle to see how this is going to work. To my knowledge it’s never worked before for a game with high TTK. And laser accuracy only makes the problem worse.

Bungie once(or multiple) said that 8v8 is the sweet spot for halo. Go any bigger and you loose what makes halo magic.

They could make damage over range drop off more dramatic. As it would only affect the big map matches anyway

Though I think you might be overstating things a bit. Halo TTK isn’t that much faster than Battlefield. Hell, you get sniped or team shot in Battlefield, death is pretty instant…and then you respawn. Like it’s not a major issue

Lol what? Halo 5 TTK with a br is around 2 seconds. In battlefield/COD it’s 1/4 second if they hit there shots. That’s a lifetime of difference. In those games if you are shot in the back, if the person shooting is good you are dead every single time. In halo there’s time to react and potentially win those battles.

Casuals will get slaughtered in a 24v24 or bigger mode. They won’t enjoy it, and the hardcore won’t either. The example you gave of reducing bullet damage at a distance is one option. They would need to do more. Reduce weapon accuracy, add recoil possible, and they would need to rework the health/regeneration system.

I’m not saying 24vs24 or more can’t work. But I think it will be very hard to implement successfully, and I used to want it so badly with each release. I love love BTB. I thought more is better right? Then I played halo 5 warzone… and I changed my mind.

It wasn’t even about the req system or the AI. It was about how combat encounters happen with other players. Ive met very few people who liked it more than BTB. After halo 3 and reach bungie was asked why they didn’t go bigger. They said it doesn’t work. I thought bullshit, but they might be right.

Leak anything dammit

I may be wrong, so correct me if I am, but aren’t you going by Halo 5’s battle rifle’s perfect TTK numbers (all headshots, no misses)?

And also, you’re just assuming Infinite is going to have the same TTK. I guess if we’re doing that, we should assume it will have the same movement speed, which is a mitigating factor to the fast TTK. So why would it not be even more so, in a huge map, Battlefield conquest type scenerio? Especially when you consider that this is not the mode most of the better Halo players that can consistently pop full headshot bursts, will be engaged in. There will be a lot of casuals who will be similar skill levels, with the occasional encounters with a ringer that will own them, but more times than not, it will be a winnable fight for them against another casual

And again, players will be spread out, you likely won’t be getting shot at by more than a player, or two at a time. And usually it will be at range, where the you’re speed may allow you time to get to cover, or locate the enemy and fight back. And if it is up close and your attacker does have the drop on you…you SHOULD die quickly. Thems the breaks

Also, this all started with you pointing out how you could be driving a warthog and get shot at by 15 opponents and die in half a second. I’ve been thinking about that. I mean, what kind of fool would you be if you tried doing that, expecting anything short of a quick death? If you drive in to a cluster of enemies that large, you’re asking for it, but also that scenerio is so unlikely. Not sure how much Battlefield you’ve played recently, but this is not usually a thing. And if it is a scenerio where you have a big chokepoint a lot of players happen to be at, it likely means your own team will be there with you as well. So you’re not going to be the only target

Yes I was talking about hitting all ur shots and headshot with BR.

We already seen how infinite gameplay and the running speed isn’t faster than 5’s. It actually looks slower to me. I’m confident that a 24v24 or more player count won’t work without changes to gameplay from the main competitive gameplay. Whereas if they do 10 teams of 4 they might not have to change anything.

We will see though. I could be wrong. I’m sure we both want the game to be very successful. Cant wait to see the game.

We will see what happens man. We both want halo infinite to be very successful

Yeah and I actually don’t even expect there to be a BF type mode anyway. I just like the idea of it

Then again, there will also be a new Battlefield around the same time anyway, so I’m covered there. Haha

I’m excited/hopeful to see the multiplayer coming from a lifelong super fan. I’ve played more halo than any other game.

I kind of know what to expect from the competitive. This teased ‘bigger player count’ mode is a mystery though.

I just started MCC with Halo Reach on the SX. First Halo in nearly 20 years when I played Halo CE. The controls feel as tight and neat as I remember CE was back then.

I love how naturally the combat develops. Sometimes unexpected shit happens, it feels like a sandbox in which npc are having fun and you are there witnessing and interacting.

People shouldn’t worry much about graphics. It will be fine.

The only thing I don’t like of Halo Reach is the lack of subtitles in combat. I have hearing problems and often I don’t know what’s going on.

Wow I never played a game in ultra wide. Must be a nice experience.

Me neither. It looks pretty awesome. FOV slider will be on console too.

The forerunner architecture is definitely giving me some Halo 3 vibes.

I’m happy theirs FOV sliders for console. I’m also very happy that competitive is input based.

I believe these screens are of the exact same forerunner structure from different angles. This map is gonna be huge.
