Halo |OT| Master Chief's Breath of the Wild Moment (Part 1)

Literally everyone I see is critical of the progression. Skillup, Tom Warren, Jeff Grubb, Klobrille, etc and pretty much the entirety of the Halo content creator community.

Good good. Hope 343 is already working on it.

As a BTB (and Halo 5’s Warzone) player (mostly), I must say I’m a little concerned about the BTB map variety which is lacking compared to Halo 3 or Halo 5. Hoping for a solid roadmap from 343.

Give me Banished maps. Or even better, Covenant map set in High Charity (not happening but, well… )

Was expecting a little more for BTB since Warzone got scrapped and Firefight isn’t present.

Its a weird they stuck to it(Or at least say they were going to work on it) because there was alot of criticism when it first was announced to work like this.

Yeah it’s always been bad since we got to experience it lol, just that people were hopeful it would change or update at launch but it hasn’t. Imo in ways it has gotten worse because the season now lasts like six months and hence the challenges are padded out even further.

Say bye to Forge coming in 2022.

This game needs alternate progression. It needs to drop the reliance on challenges only. ā€œits slow because the season lasts long, people would just run through the battle pass in a week or two and then get boredā€, yes that’s because you have no other alternate progression to work towards outside the battle pass, which benefits both these no lifers who would have something to work towards even after the battle pass but also those who simply don’t care about the battle pass.

Just bring back per match xp properly, and not the sleight of hand version that they have now where it ā€œjust bundles up xp for a set amount of matches and then gives you as part of the challengeā€ lol which only gets worse the more you play. That’s not the solution people were asking for.

Almost everything else about the game rocks, but this progression ain’t it, and imo doesn’t deserve praise just for being never expiring* cuz it needs to do more to counteract the caveats that come with that never expiring asterisk.

I think the progression system is fine. It’s not really distracting to me, and I hate the idea of kills or matches played giving exp. There are already enough people treating objective modes likes slayer without being rewarded for it. If the gave objectives experience it would be fine I guess, but otherwise I prefer the current system.

Like, I dunno guys, game is amazing to me - everything I’ve ever wanted from Halo Multiplayer, since back when I used to chill with my mates on H2 or ODST Firefight.

I don’t get this need for progression. The game looks and feels absolutely incredible, INCREDIBLE. In the last 40 mins I’ve done two slayers and a CTF and I’m having a blast. Halo is back!

The novelty of having a working, functional, feature-complete multiplayer experience at launch in 2021 :open_mouth:

Bruhhh what is this :joy:

That shit ain’t even fitting in that one line.

Nice! Game working offline is gonna go a long way in having retention for those with bad Internet, or when server issues happen, etc. Also good for long term preservation of the game itself.

I am shocked that my experience went really smooth bar one little hicup.

It is indeed a little sad that people need to feel rewarded constantly and that the fun is progressing and not playing the game that is used more as a tool to get said rewards and the feeling of accomplishment.

But that is where the industry has gone, and Halo does have a BP so they need to make progression a bit quicker, at least for the beginning.

I’m not someone who’s serious about progression so it doesn’t concern me, me but I know it’s something that can really demotivate players & actually hurt the game’s engagement long-term, It has to be addressed as I’m seeing the complaints about it are obvious and everywhere.

Yep the games been running very smooth for me, no crashes yet, only server issues I guess where getting into matches is very slow, but no hiccups otherwise.

Hopefully a sign that 343 has indeed been polishing the game for months and this will translate to the campaign.

Launch Site is huge. It’s designed asymetrical like High Ground or Last Resort in Halo 3 but it definitely can be a BTB map (8v8 for sure, don’t know 12v12 but I think that would be a fun mess).

A 4th BTB map would help with variety in BTB.

Actually, this map is in an odd position. It’s the only map not included in Arena ranked and it’s not included in BTB too.

Yeah progression needs work. But I tell you what - this is the best MP shooter in years - perhaps decades. So much fun, so polished, immaculately balanced for a launch (a few things need tweaking but compare to Battlefield - this is a dream).

The game is going to be life consuming.

How do you get weapon skins in this btw? Is that tied to weapon kills or something else?

Agree - launch site needs a rethink its way too big for social arena - IMO because matches just become one v ones as everyone just scatters. Deffo isn’t a 12v12 map as it stands. Feels to me like 6v6 would be the sweet spot. It reminded me in scale of Destiny MP maps.

Do they have medals based on objectives? If so, tie XP to medals. If not, add those.
