Halo |OT| Master Chief's Breath of the Wild Moment (Part 1)

review codes are generally about a week ahead of time, 3 weeks would be a godsend. I am at the point of really hoping for at least 7 days for anything big.

I would think a little more time due to the MP as well as the campaign. Give plenty of time for reviewers to play everything that total package has to offer.

Amazing lol

Hearing there are other biomes for this? Winter and Desert themed levels would be cool

We don’t know for sure but probably I’m just guessing

MP will be a post release thing for almost every site I would hope

I would think that it would be before release so they can actually get online and play the game before millions get on to play it especially since it’s free to play.

The problem is that the matching and servers need to be tested in order for the review of a multiplayer game to be worth anything.

Halo mcc had its reviews come out pre-launch. I believe 343 ran custom games prior to launch for the media. They all gave it really good scores then the game launched in a very bad state. I actually think this is why IGN now does review in progress for multiplayer games.

The embargo for mp should be release day. That way reviewer can put them out at their digression. Even if they are given a review copy prior to launch they shouldn’t be able to put the review out till launch day, that way they can test the servers and matchmaking properly.

normally they’d do big in person events for the media. we’ll have to see if they try to setup mp play sessions. I know our site is going to most likely put out a MP review after launch

I understand and agree with this in general but the match making and servers should have nothing to do with the quantity and quality of the modes and maps. Plus, you don’t need that stuff to review visuals, audio, combat and gameplay.

Okay. I take it that the campaign and MP will be reviewed individually then?

This game is a walking meme and in a great way :joy:

Detailed breakdown of Inside Infinite by HiddenXperia

Another really good Inside Infinite :+1:

The main thing that has always made Halo stand out to me as the best first-person shooter experience available is that moment-to-moment gameplay loop, which heavily incorporates things like enemy AI & visual design. Cool to read a deeper dive into that stuff.

Very glad to hear what they said about the Skimmers, for example. That flying enemies can be irritating if done wrong. PTSD flashbacks to those little flying dudes in Halo 4

Can’t wait for this game to finally land.

Every screenshot I see of a map makes me really reassured regarding the structure of the game.

My worry when people say ‘Halo’ and ‘Open World’ in the same sentence is that the game will end up not feeling like Halo, which is supposed to be about action – the mission, direct and unwavering. I don’t want Chief wandering around a massive world doing fetch quests.

But they’ve shown several maps now, and in all of them you can see that the world is chunked up into sections the size of a large Halo level, and its hinted that any time there is a distance to go the game is going to give you a vehicle to do it with. Traversing out of these Zeta chunk ‘levels’ into another area is always through chokepoints where there will obviously be a big fight to get through. I also see a lot of broken bridges (there is one in the shot above, and were two on the one shown in the campaign reveal) that obviously require campaign actions to fix and open up a new ‘level’.

It’s a structure I really think is going to work – a way of bringing open-world elements into what is still a tightly structured and dense game focussed around action and fun.

Side quests might also be a concern if they were not connected to the mission, but I have a feeling they are. Chief is a hero, so obviously he is going to rescue any pinned down UNSC, that makes narrative sense. And the below blog drops a hint that you do in fact get story content by completing them:

“Oh, and make sure you take back every UNSC Forward Operating Base you can. Rumor has it they have stories to tell…”

My theory is that Chief has been out of it for six months, and he’s missed a lot about what happened and how the UNSC ‘lost’, and the side quests is the way you unravel that. You have the main story mission that will give you the basics of this and tell the story of Chief fighting back and winning, what happened with Cortana etc., but by doing the side missions you uncover the backstory of everything he missed out on – so while ‘optional’ you get a richer, fuller story by completing all the content.

That’s my hope anyway.

This also needs a Phoenix Wright version!

Tell me if you find any already or I’ll do it myself lol

One thing so far makes me very happy…

Not a Warden Eternal in sight.

Those motherfuckers really ruined a big part of Halo 5 for me.

When I saw the first one I thought awesome, they listened to the critique about how the final boss of 4 was a pushover and now we’re already getting such an awesome sub boss. But then he kept appearing waaaaaay too often and at the end where you got multiple at once it just become a joke to me.

Yea not sure it seems open world with the stuff like rpg Elements like upgrades side quests and missions etc plus collectibles but considering that and what not game looks and sounds incredible people need to realize that for a cross gen game that is basically open world ( I think semi ) and physics heavy that looks and runs this beautiful is incredible so hyped for December
