The skimmer seems like a smart addition to the sandbox of enemies, they seem like floating grunts that are satisfying to pick off.

This. My guess is that reviewers get review codes for Halo Infinite in mid November which is when im expecting the game to “go gold”.
I just read through that long blog post, and man if they aren’t managing to get me even more hyped for December 8th. I really love the discussion around the game design and things like making the Elites look slimmer and such. I am going to play the heck out of this game! And funny enough I am actually really excited that I can play the solo campaign with a full 100% playthrough without distraction from my friends in a wild co-op run, play the heck out of multiplayer and yet still look forward to awesome co-op campaign runs and features like Forge into next year too 
Yeah, I am not always a “clear the map” player except when one really gets its hooks into me big time. But given how much I love Halo and if the gameplay is as great as it seems, then I will absolutely be clearing the map with this one
