Halo Infinite Tech Preview July 29th- Aug 1st

Have it downloaded, but haven’t played yet. What is recommended right now on Series X, performance or quality?

Depends on your screen

Can it do 120fps?

I didn’t see any difference between the two. I’m on quality to be sure I get the best IQ. No drops at all. It’s pretty smooth.

So I haven’t played yet and just downloaded it. When I try to open it it says “Update needed, but we cant get it at the moment.”

Anybody else had this?

Edit: Hard reset and was prompted for update.

Not sure in the flight there is any difference between the two….

the game looks pretty good even on base xbox one. So I think at launch its possible to have a decent 60fps option that rests between looking like what it does rn and absolute dogshite

In my opinion it looks just good. Nothing spectacular. Of course is much better in comparison to these plastic and very flat 2019 trailer and 2020 gameplay.

I’d love to see a comparison in between Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Infinite. I wonder which one will be looking much better.

Like Halo 4 was one of the best looking games on Xbox 360, then Halo Infinite on Xbox One in 2021 probably won’t be, in my opinion. Like we already had much better graphics.

But… Fingers crossed and maybe 343 will deliver also in terms of graphics side. Because gameplay probably will be definitely delivered.

Problem isnt that Halo 5 didnt look good cause it did.

The problem is that the art direction is absolutely gross for Halo in that game.

art direction wise, Halo infinite looks leagues better than Halo 5 and that’s more important than visual fidelity.

I guess somehow it is important.

Halo is still the most important franchise in Xbox history. It’s been a the biggest system-seller for its consoles. If they have that big brand like this then it would be nice if it also looks so beautiful, not just good and not standing out from the crowd

it does look beautiful imo, just not relying on how much it can push the hardware fidelity wise to sell you on the game. Fidelity matters, but the problem with 343’s Halo had rarely been fidelity, it’d always been the criticism of how much it departed from the “soul” of Halo in its visual design, and now that it’s returning to that, certain art direction decisions were seemingly made that pulled back on the need to push for certain things, all in favor of serving a clean but timeless look to the game.

Just fyi and idk where this needs to be broadcasted but people are data mining this build and leaking Campaign details like the full plotline allegedly. Just be cautious and mark spoilers please

sheesh lmfao

I can’t connect to the servers. Are they down or something ?

Need I remind you that graphics optimization, additional effects, and whatnot all come together in the last couple of months of a game’s development? Sketch specifically mentioned that the tech preview is a two month-old build and that the test is about stability of network performance, not with all the bells and whistles in.

I feel like every time there’s a tech preview or early beta-build this same conversation comes up, and maybe I’m getting tired of the same arguments after living through decades of beta tests. It just reminds me of the Gears betas, or even the Halo 5 beta to some extent. Being that this isn’t even a ‘beta’ release, I think people should relax when it comes to the visual front.

I think so, I was just recently kicked from a match and gave up when I couldn’t reconnect for 20 minutes.

I’m not talking specifically about that tech test only. I understand that tech test is mostly for first performance check of servers in public, looking for some glitched, for community feedback, etc., etc. I’m just saying in general. Since they announced Halo Infinite in 2018 probably everyone was surprised and kinda wow-ed.

Then in 2019 they showed new campaign trailer which wasn’t great. Another year and that horrible gameplay. This year we had a little teaser from campaign and that looked already much, much better and I really liked that image when was Master Chief on two sides (2021 with much more details and textures v 2020 with completely nothing, just literally flat design, like a cheap plastic toy). That’s why I’m not crossing out Halo Infinite, because maybe it’ll really have a solid graphics, but some concerns are also reasonable. That’s it.

We’ll just see in November… :slightly_smiling_face:

My only real issue with the game so far is the sound. Not the actual sound effects. Just the mix to them. I’ve had that one bug where everything is silent except the noises the Spartans make stuff like that is to be expected. But the gun shots, announcer and ai just aren’t very loud. I want to hear it when I get a double kill. The guns are as bad as the announcer or ai but they still seem quiet. I’m playing on just my tv speakers. Normally I play games at like 12 and that’s good but I had to turn it up to like 24 and things still sounded quiet.

how did that even happen?
