What sort of issues?

You couldnt just say the game was buggy?

absolutely not!

Some very inconsistent performance unfortunately.

Why? Seems rather silly to try and hide it. Its not like the game is known for polish.

This seems to be one of them

hide it?

The meme didnt load properly due to storage space, I got confused I thought you couldnt say it out loud.

Oh, haha. Yeah sometimes the big ones bug out, whoops!

Achievements list is up now. I think we can all agree if @Shpeshal_Nick does not get 1000 gamerscore in this he is just a troll in regards to goldeneye being a good game

Some thoughts:

  • Runs exactly as I was expecting. Janky looking and a bit bad, but exactly the best way an N64 era game can look. It’s like seeing an 8-bit Spectrum game running; you know it’s shit, but the core game is still there.
  • Controls better than I was expecting. the LT sights function is good, and that you can move whilst aiming is a cut above the original game, if memory serves.
  • Game runs okay. I wish for 60fps, but there must be a rule in there about FPS boost or something. Maybe the game can’t do it in emulated form, or maybe they’re not allowed to. Who fucking knows how this got to us, with all the hoops, so I’ll take the fact that it exists at all as a win.
  • It runs better than the N64, that’s much is true. No stuttering on the Dam level. Will be intersting to see how it runs on 4p multiplayer when mutliple death are happeing due to a rocket being launched in Archives, with all the windows shattering, that always used to fuck it (and in theory should fuck it in the Switch version, being a native emulator).

We wish for what we could have had, but we have to look at what we got, and that it exists at all is astonishing. A year ago, this would have been considered a bullshit rumour (and it was!). I’ve never played through the campaign fully (the escort mission can fuck off) but the biggest flaw with the Xbox version will be the lack of save states that the NSO version has built in. That’s… going to hurt. I’ll take achievements over that, mind you.

The frame pacing and constant stutters are confusing, especially since the Switch emulation lacks them. Hoepfully those can be addressed.

They did a nice job with emulator injection on replacing the controller menus and so on, but if they just solidify the framerate , fix the wobbly polygons, and restore the fog (which was used for effect on the original N64 version, not for performance ) they’ll pretty much solve all the issues.

I think Nintendo has something to do with this. Might be forced parity? the leaked XBLA version of Goldeneye is 60fps and has on the fly old/new remaster graphics options like how they have it in Halo Anniversary where you can switch back and forth in gameplay.

It nice that we get Goldeneye finally but i hate that Nintendo probably made Xbox do these cutbacks for parity reason? might be the only way this even get release cause Nintendo were the ones that block the XBLA version from release way back then.

It’s better than not having Goldeneye at all i guess.

Works better than i thought. Thanks Xbox team who worked on this for almost 15 years. Holy shit, unreal that its finally here on my Xbox.

Fixed.
