'Get rid of the ballots...' -Trump

Yes, its your opinion that trump is trying to steal the election, however the sources you give dont prove this, you can keep saying they do but they dont and I will never stop stating the truth.

If GOP legislators bypass the voters and hand Trump the state’s electors, are you really contending that such a scenario is not stealing he election away from voters who picked the other candidate?

Unless you’re playing some semantics game, it’s about as close to a fact as you can get. He’s calling electorates to over-turn the will of the people of their state. His own Tweets back up the news stories about this. There is no “both sides”. This goes beyond politics. I don’t feel you’re even trying to have a good faith discussion. If this is what you truly believe, then I’d drop this because while this forum doesn’t delve too far into politics, we’re not going to entertain this type of stuff either. Believing this stuff is justified is not going to get air here. There is no nuance. Even if you consider mainstream news as fake news, you can take the statements made by his lawyers in and out of court and Trump’s own Tweets and make an educated decision about what is happening. If you can’t see anything wrong with what’s happening, then I believe you need to get your information less filtered before engaging in this discussion.

Precisely. @LifeForms, Trump spoke in Pennsylvania court today and as a matter of public record we have him saying and I quote “We have to turn the election over, because there’s no doubt we have all the evidence, we have all the affidavits, we have everything. All we need is to have some judge listen to it properly.” I’d be happy to provide all the sources in the world, but I’m sure the words coming directly out Trump’s mouth won’t sway you if the swath of evidence to corroborate thus far won’t…

The GOPs argument is that fraud has taken place, so they will bypass fraudulent votes yes. Not anywhere has it been suggested by the GOP or trumps legal team that they want to bypass legitimate votes.

Argument is not the same thing as belief. They know that no such fraud occurred. They argue one thing but privately know better. The 126 GOP reps, for example, are asking SCOTUS to throw out many millions of votes which NONE of the reps even contend are fraudulent. Rudy in court was repeatedly asked by judges if they were making fraud claims…and every single time he relented and said no, knowing that making such charges in a court of law would lead to him having to provide evidence. If he truly believed that evidence existed and was compelling, he would have responded very differently.

And as was explained to you already, they are NOT claiming all of the votes in Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Nevada were illegal, and yet they have repeatedly asked every one of these states to throw those votes that they agree are legal out. So no matter how many times you assert it, the reality is that they ARE trying to throw out votes that all agree are entirely legal.

Just another update to what most of us have already known, a leaked call from Trump to Georgia’s Secretary of State where Trump literally demands that the Sec. “find” 11,780 votes. We can be pedantic all we want but there’s more than enough evidence that trying to steal the election is exactly what Trump and his associates have been trying to accomplish. There’s no debate, and the sheer amount of effort Republicans have gone to to undermine the electoral system and millions of the citizenry’s votes should be beyond alarming to everyone, regardless of one’s political leanings. This is the stuff of dictators, and I know damn well that a certain group of right-wingers would be up in arms if a Democrat had done so…

I’m not American, but Trump sure feels threatened. I think it should be by the end of January that he is out of the White House ?

If the dems get the senate seats they’ll be sitting pretty for a very long time.

Pack the courts, abolish the electoral college, and make DC a state (more dem house and senate seats). Theyll also control redistricting since thats coming up either this year or next.

Yup. This is a years long effort to steal the election. It started with the efforts to extort Ukraine into meddling on Trump’s behalf. It included the sabotaging of the USPS, tried and true voter suppression tactics, a several months long effort to spread propaganda about mail-in voting, and a premeditated plan to go through precisely these post-election steps in hopes the noise would give GOP coverage to steal it. It’s gonna fall short, but this is so much closer than succeeding than most Americans understand. Most have long moved on from thinking about the election and feel safe with thought Biden won and will be sworn in.

Looks like the Dems will have the senate (with Harris being the tiebreaking vote), but Manchin has already said he won’t support packing the courts, and abolishing the electoral college will require a 2/3 vote in each chamber and then a constitutional amendment approved by 3/4 of the states, so I’d be shocked if either of those things get done.

However, they should be able to at the very least pass a new Voting Rights Act, which should include very strict anti-gerrymandering language, so that alone will help a lot going forward.

It’s gonna be an interesting 2+ years, that’s for sure.
