Those things are ALL related to X1 era blunders, the catastrophe also dragged core Xbox franchises in the mud (I think the only one with a different trend was FH because it’s unique in the whole industry and SoT as a new IP, also unique), a bigger Xbox will mean a bigger Gears. Mark this post for 2024+ and you’ll see the truth. XD

Damn shame it probably sold more lifetime than Gears 4 and 5 combined despite being an unfinished and divisive product after 6 years. Must suck for Sony damn that the game won a zillion awards too and people still talk about it to this day.
Also more people will probably be excited and play that online mode than either Coalition Gears but hey you do you Francis. Go play Elimination against bots online.
Im sure Crackdown 3 was a blunder due to xbox one and Ryse and not becaude they were mid too.
You can’t associate those games with Gears, come on man, it’s a bad comparison. Uncharted was trashed by Gears in 7th gen and UC4 was nothing wildly different (like Gears 4), the platforms fortunes changed, not the games.

Gears has been on decline since 360 era so blaming it all on the Xbox One is nonsense. I dont think everything that went wrong in that era either needs to be tossed to the console.
I like the Gears trilogy more than the UC trilogy but trashed at what? Its probably not sales or critical reception thats for sure.

Sales man, Gears 3 alone sold like all three UC in that gen. Also only 2 was a critical darling, 1 was a mediocre Gears rip-off, they improved with 2.
UC1 is awful man lol. Ill give it to Sony for sticking with it lol.
Gears 5 sold something like 3 million didn’t it? Not bad for a game they ‘gave away’ to millions of their customers through Game Pass.
The thing is we seem to agree that the core loop of the game needs to be evolved to keep interest from waning.
But that’s an argument for giving the team more time.
You seem to contradict yourself. On one hand you say the series needs to do more, then you turn around and say that there is no way a Gears game should ever get more than three years in development.
You don’t seem to get the internal contradiction.

The Coalition only had 3 years between Gears 4 and 5, mostly because they had to carry Xbox on their back due to a lack of other studios and games.
A restrictive schedule is the perfect reason to stray too much from new things. Let them have the time they need and see what they do unchained with Gears 6.

I wouldn’t know, last I heard Sony hasn’t divulged any sales figures since launch. I heard it didn’t have any legs which is something the series is knows for before it didn’t have multiplayer. Oof.
All we’ve heard is The Coallition is working on Gears 6, another game (new IP I dunno) and Naughty Dog is still trying to finish their last game and a remaster. I can’t even remember the last time someone talked about the last of us…oh yeah the TV show…
Still waiting on that second team they promised in 2011…i feel like they need a 2nd team to finish one game.
I guess awards + bad sales isn’t paying the bills.
More people excited to pay $60 for campaign and $70 for multiplayer…HAHAHAHA!
Honestly Gears 5 might be too busy for me. Every time I try to create a single player escape, I always have 2 team members by the time the game loads in…and im on Series X so those load times are faaaast!

Yes it’s the same game in mechanics. Somethings are even worse like the enemies damage reactivity and environmental destruction.

This “war” against Gears imo is nonsense, there are countless things much, much (x10) worse within Xbox before even thinking about Gears, lol. For example the fact I see more ads about the freaking Jurassic World Evolution 2 than FH5 in my country, lmao. THAT is a really dire situation, not Gears.

toppled one day in 2019 and that means its gigantic. What makes Fortnite the behemoth is the ability to sustain and brint in new people which is something you cant say for this series.
