In the open world they did already since launch of the series X update. This is probably just the regular monthly patch for bugfixes and the 2 new cars.
Mortal Shellâs new next-gen native version runs much better on Series X than on PS5. One of those Hitman 3 cases, which seem to be becoming more and more common where PS5 does not reach 4K while the X does or gets closer to it.
âThe only resolution found on PS5 was 2560x1440. Xbox Series X uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3200x1800 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2560x1440. Native resolution pixel counts at or near 3200x1800 seem to be common on Xbox Series X. On Xbox Series X a form of temporal reconstruction is used to increase the resolution up to 3200x1800 when rendering natively below this resolution.â
3,686,400 pixels vs 5,760,000 pixels.
PS5 seems to be artificially capped by Pro BC.
Interestingly the S DRS window is too high. Should lower the bottom to 900p or below. Target a final resolution of 1440p to get a more stable 60.
Game has a native ps5 port though so it really shouldnât happen
This is a new next-gen version. Not a simple update like The Division 2. There is a new physical version for it too. This is not BC.
A Jericho meme?
I like you.
So is Mortal Shell any good?
Wasnât very interested before these results, but I guess itâs some kind of dark souls style game where you take over new bodies as a ghost or something?
I never even heard of the game before the next gen patch was announced but it does look nice. Curious about impressions as well
Mortal Shell, for some reason I keep expecting a announcement that it hits Game Pass. Iâd sure play it. Iâd buy it if I hadnât so much already.
Watched the video.
In comments - many where trying to defend PS5 and saying that 1440p is a typo and actual value is 1800p on PS5.
Thereâs been a lot of typos then
Many went too far and said that series X use 900p checkboarding to 1800p
Itâs still being capped to 1440p though for some reason.
Yeah wtf? Maybe the fps bottleneck on XSS isnât pixel counts though. If it is, itâs super dumb to not just make it 1080p since the TV the machine targets is gonna be that res anyhow. o.0
I feel like thereâs still a lot of developers who donât fully understand the Series S. The Mortal Shell developers clearly dont. The framerate is a mess on Series S because theyâve chose to make 4K a priority.
The reason being it canât reach a higher resolution. It is what it is. This is a native version.
Doesnât make sense to me that a game using DRS would have both locked resolution and framerate on a platform.
Have the Devs stated official rendering targets? I see this is a VGtech analysis who I donât follow so no idea of accuracy track record.
I guess if it does run a locked resolution then the reason is most likely to be that activating DRS didnât give the res a significant uplift or it did so at the expense of frame rate.
