So parity at worst across nearly every game with the tool situation. Bodes well for Xbox.
Yep nearly every game has already been patched to parity or in a few cases like Observer a ray tracing patch is coming in Jan. Observer still has an advantage over PS5 as it has a 4k mode and the PS5 does not. Add in the Cyberpunk situation and the Series X is doing better in the big holiday games.
Also lets not forget about Gear dropping the best looking next gen gameplay almost out of nowhere what a great DLC and technical example of Series X power. Coalition are wizards
Also I appreciate what DF does even if it means pointing out negatives against Xbox, because of their next gen coverage almost all the issues with launch games have now been fixed and that is a benefit for Xbox gamers. We want Xbox and the game devs putting games out on Xbox to fix mistakes and not have it covered up because fanboys canāt handle criticism like the Sony fanboys that flip their shit when ever anyone dares talk bad about Sony.
Awesome! So simply by uncapping the FPS with a mod the Series X does all the hard work and run the game at a near-locked 60 FPS with Auto HDR.
So you can play Skyrim right now for free thanks to Game Pass in a 4K Resolution at 60 FPS with HDR.
I havenāt watched it yet, but did they try using the mod that causes the game to render at 720p and see if One X would have had a better show?
I tuned out of the head-to-head comparisons a few weeks ago. This is referring to the fact that the Xbox was underperforming due to what we assumed was immature dev kits? If so, great! Not because I care about a slight increase in NPC density or steadiness of frames but because it bums me out when machines donāt work as well as they should
Yeah, it was due to immature tools, so the results we are getting now are really encouraging for the future.
I mean bugs are being patched out. Iām not convinced that this is much to do with Xbox tools and just devs having the time to fix stuff, the Xbox Series X low poly models was only in the 120FPS mode in dirt and was a bug. Not convinced the performance of the series x will be fixed entirely, for example weād need to see a full analysis of DIRT 5 with performance and everything compared to see if really the series x is performing more as expected or not,ā¦
My guess is not as it will take a few dev kit updates for that to happen and likely we will see that in games next summer as unlikely anyone who has shipped will revisit to rebuild on new GDK (even if they have one)ā¦
Can anyone here with Dirt 5 comment on how smoothly it runs on Series X?
The game runs like crap on PS5 since the two most recent patches. Iām talking about regular frame drops which are very distracting.
I play on the Resolution mode and it looks and plays great. Iāve been playing it every day since Series X launch and its one of my favorite Series X launch titles.
I play on resolution mode cause image quality mode looked a tad to soft for me and resolution mode just popped more and looked more next gen due to increased sharpness.
Both modes have played smoothly through all the different patches.
No crashes or fps issues like have been reported on the PS5 version. And as I said I run at least one race everyday.
Would you say youāre a person who is very aware of frame rate drops?
Every version of the game had screen tearing problems at launch. Did you notice that? They turned on v-sync with a recent update, which swapped screen tearing for frame rate drops.
I would notice if the frame drops caused any gameplay issues, the control is smooth to me and I dont notice any drops to the point that it becomes a problem in controls or on screen.
The game plays and looks great, itās been a great launch title for the Series X.
So you didnāt notice the frequent screen tearing at launch?
I also didnāt notice any screen tearing when I played back at launch. Iāve played the game for around 30 hours and it felt really smooth for me (IQ Mode). I did notice some minor drops when I played on my One X, though.
My only problem with the game was the lighting pop in ā it was really annoying.
Not Digital Foundry but a frame rate test for Destiny 2 from another channel
PS5 and Xbox Series X use a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 2346x2160 on both consoles.
PS5 and Xbox Series X often render at a resolution of 3840x2160, but in the scenes tested, the resolution on PS5 was below 3840x2160 more often than Xbox Series X was. Xbox Series S uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 1920x1080 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1536x1080. Drops in resolution below 1920x1080 on Xbox Series S seem to be uncommon.
Performance can vary somewhat and the scenes here arenāt exactly like-for-like which should be kept in mind when comparing the performance of the consoles here. All three consoles use lower resolution buffers for certain effects.
That is fixed in the latest patch
The lighting pop in? Thatās great to know!
So, games that perform better on PS5 are only Assassinās Creed Valhalla and Immortals: Fenyx Rising now. I think that Ubisoft launching those games on like every fucking thing that uses electricity (One, One S, One X, Series S, Series X, PS4, PS4 Pro, PC, Stadia, Switch and Luna, we are talking 10 or 11 platforms here) might have made them have less time to optimize their games.
The launch issues seems to already be mostly straightened out, not to concerned going forward. Looking forward to 2021 games
Yeah, all the concern some of us had (yeah, I like to have the best versions of third party games, what can I say lmao) seems silly now.
