I’ll have to play both , but I’m
I would need to play both, but I don’t see much difference myself and not like the jump one saw with Forza Horizon 1 to its sequel.
Switch 2 seems more like a mid-gen refresh rather than a brand new system

That’s kind of normal for them I think, they generally nitpick at things on Xbox that I feel they give a pass to others.
Jeff Grubb said the same thing. It’s basically a Switch Pro, and it’s fine he said.
I’m of two minds on this. When they talk about it being a letdown that this device “only” plays Windows games and doesn’t have any BC solution for your Xbox console library, I get it - personally that is an obstacle to me getting excited about a device like this.
But I think they take the criticism of the “This is an Xbox” thing a bit too far. They talk about players being confused because they’ve been trained to expect every “Xbox” labeled device to play every Xbox title. I don’t think that’s the case? Like at this moment, I can open the Xbox app on my phone and stream some Xbox games, but certainly not every one.
I agree that Microsoft will have to be careful about managing expectations of exactly what this device (and future “Xbox” devices) does and does not do. But I think the DF guys are being a bit obtuse in this discussion.
Did he LOL
I don’t think that’s fine, for what is meant to be a true successor system and it wasn’t like the Switch even had a Pro model either that boasted the CPU and GPU like the One X or PS4 Pro
DF hit a hit a new low and that video was purely made to hit on Xbox Not to talk about Clockwork Revolution or Keepper shows that
Had that been SONY showing off those games John L would have banged on with how amazing SONY are and the diverstary in their In-House library
Its what he said if you just entirely diregard intent, context, and nuance.
TBH I don’t really follow what Jeff says and I’m not bothered with Nintendo.
I just like watching videos on new games/systems even ones that aren’t Xbox. I don’t see a big jump with Switch 2, It’s not a big deal to me though, only an observation
The Switch 2 is a massive hardware leap over the original Switch. Like, a true generational leap.
But that has to be viewed contextually, it is a massive jump for Switch, and is fantastic hardware for a handheld, but handheld capabilities aren’t anywhere close to the capabilities of other modern hardware. But its not terribly important either. The Switch 2 is running an super impressive version of Cyberpunk 2077, a game that literally crushed last gen consoles to the point that they gave up on them. In a handheld, running at 10watts in portable mode.
So just like the Series X is a general improvement on what the One X did, its not a night and day difference. And that is just where games and gaming hardware are at now, and that isnt going to change anytime soon.
New hardware will play the games you have better, and will allow games to improve in iterative bumps. That applies to all manufacturers.
These are patreon questions/comments from their latest DF direct video from a few days ago:
I guess they have to cater to their audience.
Um, wow. I missed this one. Even if this was treated as a joke, kind of disappointing that they would entertain this kind of thing on the show.
You have to realize that DF likes to have their bread buttered. Sony and Nintendo are both notorious for restricting and/or revoking access to things when opinions shared differ from what they want.
Nintendo runs ads on DF. Sony invites them to press events. The companies are instrumental to them making a living. So they tow the line and pander. Do you think oliver is getting invited to another Sony preview event if he flat out says PSSR sucks ass? Of course not, so he tip-toes.
MS, oddly, seems to be the only one that isnt vidictive (which I also find surprising), so they get handled entirely differently.
Remind of wrestling one, where it’s about tickets sales, yet when WWE does good, hate/bash comments ensue.
That’s certainly not ideal.
I also think part of the reason they’re so down on the new ROG, is because DF(Alex more so) has pushed the windows sucks for gaming narrative.
Like Windows can be a pain in the ass, but most people still use it for various reasons.
It goes hand in hand with idea that Steam OS is some incredible, infaliable OS. When in reality, its got a great interface, but the amount of shit it cant run, or has issue playing portably, is pretty extensive.
I don’t know enough to comment, I will respectfully disagree with you over the Jump from X to Series X mind. Cyberpunk is a night and day difference, I doubt the One X could handle Microsoftsoft flight sim which for me is the best-looking current console game out there
Okay, so in your own example, One X went from running CP2077 generally okay, to better visually and much more playable. Which is literally what an iterative improvment is.
But to that point, A switch 1 couldn’t run CyberPunk at all. And a Switch 2 is running it with really solid visual fidelity (there are plenty of comparison videos out there showing it as on par with other console modern console iterations) but that isnt a big jump to you?
And to carry on with your discussion point, Flightsim also runs on a series S, a system with 1/3 the GPU of a series X. Argubly comparable to the One X GPU, so its scaling to disparate hardware profiles well. Which is literally what I was describing.
Modern games are running on everything from a Steam Deck to a 5090 card.
I bought the Cyberpunk limited edition Xbox One edition model, and it’s a night and day difference between playing Cyberpunk on that to the Series X version
And for me… Flight sim is the best-looking console game out there, even on the PC It slams the CPU, and that’s not a strong point of the Switch 2 even up against the Series S
No. it is the same game with varying levels of visual settings and performance. Your subjective claims of night and day are entirely valueless.
Flight Sim runs on all kinds of devices, again, at varying levels of performance and visual fidelity. Games are scalable to hardware. Or perhaps I should just frame in a meaningless empty subjective statement to try to help you better understand it, something like:
“Flight Simulator on a 9800X3D and a 5090 is Night and Day difference from the series S. Flight Sim is the best-looking game on PC and it slams the CPU, and that’s not a strong point of the Series S up against the PC”.
See how that works. Is it the same game? Is it running differently on different hardware? Its almost like they are scalable, and your subjective view of night day isn’t relevant.
The intellectually dishonest bullshit you smear across every thread you post in is getting really old.
I’m not being subjective when it comes to playing Cyberpunk on the Xbox One X and then the Series X played and owned both
For Fight Sim, it’s not about how many devices it can run on though it should be noted it can’t run on One X. It’s all about how good it looks and moves on the Series X compared to even a gaming PC and its a phenomenal achievemen and for me the best looking console game I’ve played on the Series X or every recently on my mates PS5 Pro which he lent me for a few weeks, while on holiday.
You can get Hogwarts Legacy running on various devices Is it the same game? Is it running differently on different hardware? doesn’t stop the Series X version looking way better than the Switch version?
Same goes for playing Xbox games on the Series S where there is a night and day difference from playing the exact same game compared to the Series X not just for graphics but also frame rate , where a number of Series games can’t even offer a 60 FPS mode like its bigger brother
