Digital Foundry posted their analysis of Starfield patch from last week. Just watched this and wanted to ask a question -
I have the LG CX OLED which has VRR and 120hz display. I want to play Starfield in performance mode capped at 60fps. Should I keep V-Sync on in game? Always thought that if you have VRR on the TV, turning off V-Sync was recommended due to having VRR. Also, I have to keep the console settings at 120hz as well, right?
Wanted to ask these questions before I start playing Starfield tomorrow. Thanks. Video is below -
Itās striking how monochromatic and desaturated Gears 1 is. Frankly, Iām into it and after years of neon color explosion games I wouldnāt mind a return to the grit and grime of the 360 era.
As the main look for the game? No thanks.
As a setting for people who love brown? Sure.
This is Xbox, everybody loves brown!
Sir, this place is green.
Still my favorite looking gears of the bunch, I shrink the style is unmatched and itās the reason why Iāve played it at least 5 times through on the single player campaign. I know a lot of people are into 2, but to me the OG is the best and the look is part of the reason why. Itās a lot darker than the sequels as well imo.
Maybe itās just the nostalgia factor kicking in though.
Nah, the game is amazing. I do prefer Gears of War 2 (one of the best TPS campaigns ever) but Gears 1 is great and deserved to be as influential as it was.
Honestly I think every Gears game is great, even Judgment.
For me itās all about the gameās theme and what the developers want to communicate to the player, the muted & desaturated color palette fitted the Destroyed Beauty theme of the 1st game perfectly. E-Day seems to go back to this style of look/art direction and I am full on board, especially now that The Coalition is going for a darker/horror tone.
Gears 1 is still to this day legit amazing, I find the OG 360 releaseās look very appealing even today plus the game still plays very very good. And yeah I agree that Gears of War is a great (definitely not simply āgoodā) series overall, even Judgment and Gears 4 which are the weakest entries of the series are legit good games with some neat ideas in them. Xbox showed a lot of awesome looking games at the showcase but E-Day is my most anticipated game by far, canāt freakinā wait to play E-Day!
And to try to not be off topic after watching the DF video above I realized that the PC version of Gears 1 was pretty badā¦like holy shit all that stuttering. Also Linneman didnāt nail even one active reloadā¦like dude come on.

Game keeps on rolling.
Pretty cool, and would be useful for BC.
Maybe even for handheld PCs, if the latency isnāt too big of an issue for most people.
Yep at least when it reaches Xbox weāll have a more polished version that should run well given the Series X is more powerful
