Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames!

How does it compare to other racing games? I’m not really into racing games, but is it casual enough like Horizon to pull people in?

I won’t recommend it if Like Forza is what you want

NFS is very stylised which I realy don’t like

It is also a dark game in terms of its color palette. Completely opposite to Forza

And I simply hate the fancy 2D stickers

Only thing that i like about this game is Nitros which Forza doesn’t have

That was Remake 3, REmake 2 was a slightly better version on the One X from the get go and didn’t get patched.

85" Sony Z9J. I’ve still got an OLED too and enjoyed them for many years. But wanted to take a step up HDR wise and at the same time move away from anti burn in measures, dimming etc. I think QD-OLED’s look great too.

Don’t expect physics like in a sim or even Forza Horizon, its very arcady. It can be fun if you get a hang on it. The races themselves are hit and miss. Literally. If the AI or some cop slams into you and drives you into a obstacle or off the road you have to restart. There is no rewind and restarts are limited (?? god knows why). So you don’t do anything wrong and get last, restart do the same thing and now you win, lol. The AI has the best rubber band in the world and if this not enough it cheats. The worst thing are the cops. They are on your ass almost the whole time so it plays more like Metal Gear Solid than a racing game. There are many cars (over 140) but you don’t make a lot of money and cars are expensive. Lots of baffling design decisions. Midnight Club LA or Burnout Paradise are better arcade open world racing games imho.

There is a 10 hour trial with EA Play or Game Pass Ultimate. Don’t buy this blind.

Looks good but ultimately not a game I’d buy, will jump on it when it hits EA Play for sure.

FWIW, lowering the resolution only hells if the drop is caused by the GPU. They could have found its caused by something else and dropping the resolution didn’t improve it, so they left it where it was.

What that could be, I have no idea though. Xbox is pretty much ahead in every hardware spec, maybe just some inefficiency in the API for some certain functionality?

I used the 10hr trial. 30 minutes was enough for me personally though.

Had the feeling I got the wrong game. Thank you.

In other news, Epic has upgraded Fortnite to UE5.1 and the difference can be pretty stark. It also runs at 60fs as well.

Everyone needs to stop looking at outliers and reading more into the situation than is deserved. As long as humans are involved in creating games, there will be different amounts of time and effort spent on optimizing for the various platforms, which will deliver varying results.

Well said. To answer the question Staffy posed as well: yes, these titles should be running better overall on Series X, it’s more powerful across every metric that determines image quality and performance. That said, these are largely outliers these days and defer to the point Brit was making in regards to resource allocation during dev and whatnot.

The outliers are infact very little

People just ignore that xbox on AVG runs at better resolution all the time

That is hard coded evidence that even devs knows that PS5 is weaker then xbox so they target it lower on PS5

And as always with DF and it’s reviews. Do not take there subjective opioins. Because sometimes, 5-10 frames difference is ok for them and sometimes it is very significant

Also, resolution doesn’t not matter anymore at 4k these days but few drops are eye sore?

Its all subjective. Simply look at the stats and xbox performs better most of the time

And offcourse, we would never now which console devs optimised the most for anyways

I don’t even like Fortnite but I appreciate the fact that it being a massive success has allowed Epic to turn UE into a truly epic engine.

PC Players would beg to disagree lol.

 True. As a console plebe myself, I am more than happy with the engine.

I do wonder UE has such problems on PC. I guess it was designed with consoles in mind?

Yeah things have been going very well for Xbox for quite a while now. Even Cyberpunk that had the edge performance wise on PS5 is now on Xbox’s side. People want to point at Warzone 2.0 because of some dropped frames, Evil West because shadows are ever so slightly better on PS5 and NFS now. I also see mentions of Callisto, but yeah…nuff said about that. Let them just fix that.

Not sure, but UE has had weird IO issues from UE3 days. Whatever the reason, it does seem like the situation has gotten worse the past few years where you can practically guarantee any UE game to have stutter issues on PC.

Consoles can get away with it due to the fact developers can precode the shader compilation due to it being a fixed hardware.

But it seems like The Coalition is able to address somehow? Or Gears also have issues on PC?

Gears 5 does not have stutter issues. But that game came out in 2019 and like I said, it just seems it has gotten worse since then.
