I have not been following the updates by the devs much though.

Its an entire veteran team. They crunched a lot, forced by the director, not the publisher. The publisher has nothing to do with the release here, its Krafton, they dont care about holiday releases. Even if the game was fully optimized for all plattforms, all the other issues in the design are still there and those are never decided by the publisher(unless its company policy, like we know Ubi does)
Just been revisiting Cyberpunk, solely to see the impact of FSR2.1. Its a night and day improvement for me. I really do think its a graphical game changer. I think the future is going to be great because of it.
I believe the Witcher 3 upgrade is going to be using it to - so cant wait to see that too.
Yeah same but for COD and some other game I just cant remember right now. FSR is massive improvement in every game, tried yesterday to turn it off in COD⦠and Iām not joking when I say I couldnt see shit without it and the frames were going at like 55. Turn it on again, +90fps all the time(ground wars(battlefield like mode) and I can see thingsā¦
So you think these devs crunched, dedicated years of their life to the project, putting countless hours into it for them to not care about the game on specific platforms? And how do you know they didnāt reach out to MS for support?
Itās also not typically the studioās call to delay a game, that usually falls on the publisher since delaying the game can have an impact on budgets, marketing, quarterly earnings, etc. Itās not a decision that is usually made lightly.
None of us know what happened with the development of this game but itās highly unlikely the developers didnāt care. Itās more likely they ran out of time and couldnāt get a delay from the publisher.
Regarding the whole reaching out to MS support topic, maybe they did but it was still too late at that point. Maybe they thought they could get it working? There are plenty of reasons and scenarios that can pop up in development that are beyond the devs control and itās not due to some malicious or negligent approach. We just donāt know and I donāt think defaulting on negative conspiracy theories is a productive way to look at situations where the Xbox version falls short. Shit unfortunately just happens sometimes and itās no oneās fault.
Thatās not how any of this works. If anything, the publisher, developer, and/or Sony might open themselves up to an antitrust suit if MS ever found out it was in the contract to basically sabotage their versions of games.
I hate to say it, but youāre wasting your breath. Some people donāt come in here because theyāre interested in technology, they come in here for console wars and get off on the victim complex.
It must be Saturday judging by the discussion weāre about to ensue.
Iām directly quoting what the DF guy is saying here.
Resolution
PS5: 1800p-2160p
XSX: 2160p-2160p
In typical play PS5 is usually somewhat sub 4K, often around 1944p. Series X is usually at a full 4K resolution.
Series S scales down roughly as expected to what appears to be a dynamic 1440p. The resolution range is somewhat wider here though and the console can dip as low 1080p in intense moments. Often averaging around 1296p or so.
Performance/framerate
All current gen consoles aim for a 60fps target though one is much more consistent than the rest. XSX and XSS hit 60fps most of the time but do suffer from lapses. One-off frame drops are fairly common a momentary 33 millisecond frame time interval at a 60hz output. But this wasnāt especially distracting in his testing.
More severe framerate drops do occur occasionally however, small clutches of drop frames that can bring fps reading down to the low 50s at worst. Both Xbox consoles show these drops in similar scenarios mostly during busy races and with about the same level of severity.
PS5 on the other hand is much closer to a locked 60fps. Itās not perfect, as the one off dropped frames are still present here. Though they are less frequent but the more noticeable dips donāt seem to surface at all here even in intense races. It offers a significantly better performance level than the Xbox consoles. Perhaps the PS5ās lower typical resolution relative to Series X is helping somewhat here. But whatever the case, the performance issues on Xbox really should be addressed even if that means taking an image quality hit.
At the moment they say PS5 offers the best experience.
Thanks for the summary.
I tried it on XSX and it was fine performance wise for the small part I played. Just didnāt like the game at all. But when youāre over 1800p, Iād rather take the smoother performer if I were to buy it. Also for me I generally will choose the haptics and adaptive triggers as my preferred way of playing, if there is parity between the platforms from a res/performance perspective. Its the one area Iād really like Xbox to step things up.
Strange that they didnt provide a better dynamic res for the XSX to smooth out performance.
TL:DR
The consoles discussed in the quoted text are the PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X (XSX), and Xbox Series S (XSS).
The performance of NFS Unbound on the PS5 is usually around 1944p and offers a closer to locked 60fps with less frequent but noticeable dropped frames.
The performance of NFS Unbound on the XSX is usually at a full 4K resolution and hits 60fps most of the time but suffers from lapses and occasional severe framerate drops.
The performance of NFS Unbound on the XSS scales down to a dynamic 1440p resolution with a wider range and can dip to 1080p in intense moments. It also suffers from lapses and occasional severe framerate drops similar to the XSX.

Now Iām no tech wizard, thatās for sure. And I know things are never black and white with hardware. But XSX is the more powerful system, so a higher resolution should be expected, correct? But those performance issues should not be there.
Sure they can lower the resolution and have it on par with PS5, but shouldnāt it have a clear edge over PS5, especially by now two years in? I know several people here with the knowledge can explain it a bit. ![]()
As some who actually owns a 4k tv, Iām going to be that guy: Native 4k is absolutely pointless if it impacts performance. Just use some kind of proper upscaling solution and call it good. Pushing a game to native 4k while hurting it in the process just reeks of āpushing the envelopeā just because someone can and not because they should.
Besides, proper HDR implementation is WAY more important than 4k. That is what actually makes the IQ sing.
I think image quality is moving away from pixel counting with impressive tech like FSR. I share your love of HDR - its why I bought a 3k nit capable TV!
I ran a little test the other day, and played MK11 with HDR off and on. The game looks great with it off. But it looks AMAZING with it on. The color depth is fantastic.
For sure. Which tvās do you got? When I still had the LG C9 I liked HDR, but was never truly blown away. I cached the hype bug earlier this year when the Samsung S95B came out, bought it and with every game that has proper HDR Iāve been blown away. Makes a huge difference. I just wish some studios would not bother with HDR if they come with these raised black levels and such.
I got a 43 inch Fire tv. It was on sale for a great price, so I had to snag it.
Reminds me of Resident Evil 2 Remake. The resolution was superb on Xbox One X but the frame was kicking in, so they lowered the resolution to match PS4. It comes down to which platform you prioritize to get the result. Like if you recall Doom Eternal, the benefit of Xbox Series tools was used and we know how that turned out. PS is more familiar, so easy way out.
i could have sworn NfS Unbound isnāt native but uses some form of reconstruction (playing on Series X). It can be a bit grainy like typical seen in reconstruction heavy games. Maybe its just a weird post processing effect. Didnāt notice any framedrops but i have a VRR capable TV.
Game is not very good btw.
