Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames!

Don’t know why it is being called deceptive… that is a cinematic sequence produced in game not in gameplay

PG never mentioned Ray Tracing for FH5 in that trailer. DF was the one who speculated that.

So blame DF perhaps?

It is literally labeled in the corner of the trailer “all in-game 4k footage”. And it isn’t DF making up the issue nor was that speculation on their end. RT is in the trailer. They aren’t the only one who noticed RT reflections even. DF pointing something out is literally their job and what this thread is premised upon. MS reps confirmed it even.

Some of the same folks who rightly called out GT7 for showing replays as ‘in-game’ despite those including RT are giving Playground a pass for the exact same thing for some reason.

It is in game 4 k footage… Ok…

This just another what is AAA vs AA arguments

What is in game vs what is actual gameplay

If it is running in real time in the engine that it is what it is

At this point only you are the one who seems to care about it

I am sorry but your audience is not here in this thread

Yeah I don’t see why we should care. Game is already out. People already have their opinions on it.

Ok, taking out the dumb console war stuff, what he’s saying it’s true.

They should not have done that. Why is there even an internal build with this enabled to produce marketing shots when PC settings don’t allow this for the end user? I can understand high end PC users with a 3090Ti to be a bit upset about this.

For me personally the “4k ingame” was already too much. This stream was clearly not 4k. Could not see any raytracing details. Get better MS!

And there are also others who no longer post in this thread due to needlessly aggressive responses and shutting down of any discussion that doesn’t suit them by other contributors.

In this case you believe it was intentional deception by playground. Most others believe it was a genuine mistake that was clarified as soon as the question was asked. Not something that requires pages and pages of discussion. So moderation of that seems entirely sensible rather than evidence of a global conspiracy intent on shutting down discussion.

They never promised RT in game for FH and they could as well use CGI there. Does not matter as the trailer was about Hot Wheels, so just consider it CGI and does not bother.

It does not matter. I want that energy for fakey scapes and replays in GT.

Folks. Drop it.

And don’t give me the “you’re shutting down discussion because it’s negative about Xbox” line - I’m shutting down discussion because certain individuals are becoming obnoxious, and it’s become a completely circular, repetitive argument that is going nowhere.

You aren’t going to agree, so stick a pin it it and chat about something else. If you feel you either can’t do that, or worse, want to ignore this message and just carry on arguing endlessly, be prepared to take an enforced break.

It’s that simple.

Thought I posted this a few days ago. Excellent look at what went into making the Matrix demo.

Totally agree, I liked the video and think what he’s saying is true too. It just doesn’t belong in this thread. Some PS fanboys using RT as ammunition in the war they are fighting isn’t the same as discussing technology.

df used the collective hive mind of all playstation fans to bring up points to nag. the reflections of the -not in game- horizon trailer was pointed to alex on twitter, the FUD whether motorsport is 4k too. df supposedly being a “tech” site should know much better that to ask “is it 4k?”

VRS 2.0 is a technique microsoft has been demonstrating since a long time, and even df themselves had an interview with id games specifically about that. but now… they forgot, and they wonder “is forza motorsport 4k? I mean, the highlights on these two rocks…”

questioning turn10 and playground technical prowess is like the last stand of fanboyism. shame…!

oh, and about his complaints that ray traced global illumination must be enabled during gameplay on pc? lets see how much he will complain when gt7 pc port won’t even have “enabled reflections” on gameplay…

You must have missed the mod post to drop this conversation. Stop it please.

Haven’t had a chance to watch it all myself. A bit busy at the moment.

TLDW: Frame rate is all over the place, don’t use RT or High Refresh modes unless you have a VRR TV.

Regular mode is solid 60.

So with VRR enabled it’s smooth, at 30 or 60fps? And would you say it makes a big difference visually, RT?

The RT mode looks really good. Really cleans up the look of reflective surfaces.

RT mode on SX is generally 40-60. High refresh is generally around 100fps.

High refresh looks the same as the 60fps mode.

Thanks! Sounds good. Wonder when they are gonna cover RE7, it’s the only one I got. Have yet to properly play it though, damn.

Thanks! Disappointed YouTube didn’t notify me or anything about these.

I think RE7 is actually the one game that runs well in RT mode. Been playing it some and the impact of RT is pretty drastic.

I notice how RT seems to crush the black levels, or is that how it’s supposed to be? I can’t see the portrait on the RT one and parts of the wall is all black.
