Same here and I think developers will be very happy if that does turn out to be the case, as UE5 TAAU looks to be impressive.

At six minutes we see a big difference between framerate and not in a good way for Xbox. For some reason smooth as can be on PS5 and dips as low as 40 on XSX. After RDR2 and how they took full advantage of One X with fantastic results this is ridiculous and I just don’t get it at all. If anything I expected XSX to take the lead.

We’ll need DF for the full details on what the exact resolution and everything is, but wtf is this? It does seem it’s solely at the part where explosions happen and it’s hectic and everything but still…if resolution and fidelity overall is identical, I don’t get this happening.

Eh, it’s probably that Rockstar made the ps5 version and just ported it to Xbox.

And for some reason zero extra effort for Xbox? Because man, RDR2 is probably still the game that has the biggest difference between One X and Pro.

could be a performance quirk/bug that they didn’t catch before releasing the game, wouldn’t surprise me if this “upgrade” didn’t get a lot of QA

I honestly even wonder if it’s Rockstar. Who’s to say Grove Street Games didn’t make it? Lol.

Right, but those enhancements were more of show of their new game, For ps5 gta though money and marketing was exchanged so I can see them putting in the effort to make the ps5 version and just port it over to Xbox. And just fix it later.

It also might be easier for devs to scale up games from the ps4/pro to ps5 because of the similar CU counts and such where as its possible it may take more work to get the most out xss/x gpu. If framerate inconsistencies continue on current gen only games then we may have a issue Microsoft needs to find out and fix

Probably, but right now the issue is pretty much ps is lead development console.

It’s an old game, they won’t be rewriting it for this.

And because it’s an old game, it will likely not need many CUs but will need more speed, because it wasn’t made to take advantage of those extra CUs. But faster CUs available will always help.

So in short… Stop judging a next gen system performance on old gen games, it will never make sense

The PS5 seems to have a skip logos, disclaimers, and cinematics on startup, which is quite the cheat. On nearly all the other loading tests the PS5 finishes last.

Yeah, I also noted that people often include logos in time calculation.

We can’t skip those on Xbox?

Speaking of which, I wish more games would let you do this. I forgot what game it was but there was one on Xbox and you can skip right through all of it, it’s great.

Historically many devs use these screens to hide background loading, hopefully as we move away from last gen and towards SSD’s this will be a thing of the past.

Xbox Series X was advertised as most powerful console. People that bought Xbox, because of that aren’t really interested about excuses like CU counts, old gen engine, or tools that are not ready

It was marketed as the quickest and most powerful Xbox ever, which it is. They never claimed it was the most powerful console ever. They did that for the Xbox One X though, so maybe that’s why people are confused.

What would you like to do about it? Someone could buy the “fastest car” and it not be the fastest in every situation.

It’s not an “excuse”, it’s a simple fact. It’s no less a fact than how something with dedicated hardware blocks will run better and more efficiently than something in software.

Your point doesn’t really stand, because there are very, very few actual real world “next gen” games built specifically with the new hardware in mind.

The fact of the matter is GTAV was made for hardware that had far fewer CUs and scales better with faster ones. Simple as that. It’s a last generation (actually twice over) engine. It isn’t designed to take advantage of newer architecture.

If you actually do the homework rather than jumping on silly arguments like this you posted, you would see that as we move forward, we need to be able to do MORE things simultaneously. That requires more CUs working alongside each other. A slight reduction in speed here helps tremendously with how newer engines are designed, and as such you already see Xbox pulling forward in most cases even WITHOUT the tools people love to mock.

Right now, of course PS5 is keeping up. You can’t use last gen engine design in this race, it doesn’t stand up

I hope you’re right.
