Hmm, those kinds of things can come into play. Unfortunate. Was it like this with 360 too? I know eyes weren’t on this kind of stuff nearly as much yet, or well, I don’t recall DF. I do recall Lens of truth but I didn’t check that much. So far differences have been small between the systems, but this is a difference I definitely find disappointing.
Especially for a system that is more powerful, I know it’s not that black and white, we talked about that in here so many times and has been explained very nicely too by a few. But still, I don’t like it.
If I recall right this game has been plagued with delays and issues, all the way to when it was an early access title on PC; they probably had a deadline they needed to meet and optimized the PS5 version first and didn’t finish with the Xbox series version.
That’s good to know. I can definitely see them giving priority over the “bigger” system, in sales, over the one that just isn’t as much, that would make more sense, since again there have been a good amount of games now where it had the edge on X.
It’s also on Gamepass so may prioritized it on the “bigger” system like you said not just for sales but also because they have to actually sell the game there, you cant just try it on gamepass and see if it’s a game you like.
I gotta say, no not really. But I got curious with that ad and thought of this thread to discuss it further in. I quite enjoy reading some of the posts here, like those from Gavin Stevens. I learn stuff each time.
it will be awhile to see current gen only game that are developed for both platforms to see the performance difference. Till then it will be parity or a slight benefit for one console over the other. The next slated current gen only game on both platforms is Steelrising which releases on June of 2022.
Since January most ges have an advantage on Series X or parity. There are a minority if games that run better on PS5 still but the amount has decreased a lot since last year.
There are also plenty of games that run poorly on Xbox and then get patched and it runs the same as on PS5? I assume developers prioritize the PS5 version before launch.
It doesn’t mean Xbox version should ship with paste and tape, lol. Also that’s another urban legend, console versions are very similar nowadays, when an Xbox port is crap is because they barely optimize it, if not at all, that’s the sad truth. My reasoning is not buying a crap port, it’s the only way we can say no.
That’s ultimately on MS, enticing developers not treating Xbox as a 2nd tier platform. It’s not my job, I can only choose where to spend my money, obviously not in games which had Xbox as the last thing in mind.
Thing is Microsoft is paying to have this game on game pass, so if getting money to help their studio stay afloat doesn’t get them to put the work on the Xbox version at launch, than nothing will. And if Microsoft just tells them they don’t want the game on Xbox because of this, they will go to social media and complain to earn themselves internet points for sticking it to Microsoft and their “draconian policy” of games needing to be properly optimized at launch.
I really enjoy seeing comparisons and learning some technical details about engines and stuff (well as much as my very limited knowledge allows me to understand) but the concept of not buying a game that looks interesting, fun and exciting because the console version that I have no access to runs at 3-4 frames more is completely crazy and alien to me.
I’m speaking about botched ports like the recent Phoenix Point, I had it in my wishlist because I like those kind of games, but hey, my backlog is big enough to skip cheap efforts.
