Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames!

This is one of the few next-gen upgrades that lets you install/run it on your external HDD. Halo MCC and SoD2 are like that, too.

Crap Xbox port, as usual, lol, it seems buying devs is the only way to make them support properly the platform. XD

But Bethesda is Xbox…

Anyway…

Someone on the DF video in the comments says Xbox has a 4K texture pack, whereas PS5 doesn’t. Not sure where he got that from though.

This cash grab was already in the making, also it’s still a XDK game, I have it on external usb.

  • Some insignificant pixel difference due to DRS, 99% identical image quality, more stable frame rate on XSX. Two seconds slower loading.

I guess this shows how Xbox can still improve their GDK and also shows the power of the PlayStation market share over ports.

When there is parity is crap, you’ll never see same performances with a 2TF better GPU, faster RAM and CPU on PC, never, outside bugs.

This is only a case of cheap port, but yeah, many 3rd party publishers marginalize Xbox ports, there are some crap versions over there, the recent Elden Ring thing was ludicrous.

Yes you will and yes outside of bugs too. Drivers make a difference, engines and optimizationa make a difference.

Then Xbox port is not optimised and we come back to devs. XD

Elden Ring being from a Japanese dev I already expected a lazy port.

I hope this changes over the course of the gen.

If you actually watch the video more was done with the xbox version then the PS5 version, DRS isn’t a feature in skyrim but they added it to the xbox version to smooth out framerates; the ps5 version isnt really any different outside of the load times from what was already available in the backwards compatible version with a 60 fps mod.

Optimization is not a click of a button. You’re asking developers to spend even more time on XSX versions to get the most out of it, when they can spend less time and get to parity. I’m speaking to parity/near parity though, not obvious dev shortcomings where the Xbox version is obviously neglected in proper optimization in some games.

Yep. DRS helps with the framerate too. I just wonder why they couldn’t easily get the resolution to native 4K, but again, it could be all kinds of reason I am not as tech savvy as DF is, not even close. DRS sure is nice to have here.

I bet it’s all hands on deck for Starfield at BGS and I wouldn’t want it any other way too. For sure.

The reason is mostly that Skyrim has never been good with framerates at higher resolutions, heck if you run the non special edition version at a framerate higher then 55 you get some interesting physic issues.

Nothing was done, lol, X1X had already dynamic resolution:

They kept X1X and PS4Pro settings with 60fps and that’s it. DF already said in the past X1X was a cheap enhancement, so it’s the XSX one.

Speaking of Starfield, I think it’s gonna be 30fps. Maybe a 60fps or VRR option for XSX. That’s just what I’m expecting based on what Todd implies and Bethesda’s engine performance in the past.

Yeah, but those loading times… :exploding_head:

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised either.

In the recent interview with Ryan he said he prefers resolution, he prefers all the visual bells and whistles basically. A Forza or a shooter like Halo should be 60fps he said but he definitely seems to aim for visuals here.

Depending on how much the visuals or resolution have been downgraded I might opt for a 60fps mode if they offer it.
