Apologies. Flight Sim and Forza Horizon 5 look amazing but im not interested in playing either game. For those who have or are, great. You’re getting what you want. Thus far, I haven’t. I simply want to be wowed visually by games that I actually want to play and right now, Halo Infinite is the game that im most hyped to play. I just wish that it wowed me visually.
I’m not sure I agree with this when there are plenty of quality 3rd party releases. 1st party publishers may have more of a vested interest to push what’s unique or considered a strength with their platform, but that doesn’t mean other studios do not push out quality games.
Yeah I’ve heard from someone with experience with UE4 that it had issues with large dense worlds. This was many years ago, so things may have improved or changed since then, but it could point to why it was dropped for Fable. Adding in new features isn’t a trivial task, so I’m interested to see how well they are able to move beyond the dead-eyed avatars we see in Forza Horizon 5 to what’s hopefully well animated and expressive characters in Fable.
Again please stop with the exclusive comparisons and especially the hyperbolic claims or assumptions. No good comes of these discussions and in the end they are largely pointless.
Well to be fair there hasn’t been much beyond these three so far.
Halo Infinite is what it is. We know from the flightings it is one of the most fun multiplayer FPS in a long time, I think perhaps ever. Is it a graphical jaw dropper? No, but there are plenty of other games coming.
Next year we will have Redfall and Starfield, possible Forza Motorsport and I’m sure something else, maybe there will be something to wow you there.
If you don’t care about Horizon 5, at least you can take something from this being the studio and engine that will deliver Fable.
Before it was confirmed to be Fable (although everyone knew it was Fable) there was a leak/rumour doing the rounds that Playground were using photogrammetry for their new ‘unannouned action RPG game’ – the same technique that was put to use for Horizon 5.
I am hoping that Fable basically looks like Horizon 5 in terms of background realism and levels of detail, with more stylised character designs to match the series history.
I hope the character designs are realistic and match the world because by the time the game releases, it would be around 20 years since the first game released and the tech is far superior so I would love a Forza Horizon 5 open world for Fable but with all the character models being realistic. At least, this is what im hoping for but remains to be seen if it actually happens.
I don’t mean ‘cartoon like’ when I say ‘stylised’, to be clear, but each to their own.
For me, stylised characters are core to Fable’s identity and it seems clear from the CGI teaser – which usually serve to telegraph the ‘look and feel’ goals of a game – that it will not aim for realism in the characters (but will in the environments).
Generally, for me, it’s always a good idea in videogames. Until we can actually achieve realism (and we are a long way from that yet) all you can achieve is to be the ‘best failure yet’ if you aim for it. By the next year there will be a new ‘best failure yet’ and in ten years time they will both look like trash compared to what’s happening then.
If you go for an art style the tech of the time can actually deliver, it won’t age half as bad.
thats fair halo usually isnt a showcase for graphics halo 4 was but gameplay design suffered because of that fact i rather have a fun game like halo infinite is than a game that is visually impressive but gameplay sucks but hey for what they are doing with infinite it looks good
It still has a long ways to go I think. Not relative to PS5’s necessarily but wrt implementing dev-facing tools for stuff like ML inference and whatnot.
Not gonna watch it because Tuesday is close now, i just want to go in blind at this point. But my buddy whose one Xbox One X told me yesterday he hopes so much he’ll play a great version. It all sounds really good judging by what I read here.
What are the biggest difference between current gen and last?
Load times (2x/3x faster on Series consoles) and geometry details, textures and foliage density seem the biggest differences. Framerates are great on every system.
