Unfortunately the game is out of GP and nobody gives a shit about it, so it’s unlikely, but the end result for Xbox user is really underwhelming. I even completed it.
Great job @Kirby0Louise I wish we get more of your rational explanations in this thread.
But I thought they used a more procedurally real-time generated voxel technique.
So they did entire port with updated APIs
No wonder it’s running 8k
Thanks for posting! Really awesome effort on consoles here. I quickly tried out the PC version last night and the frame rate limiter was working much better after the recent patch.
Also noticed the lowered framed animations on even more than reloading, so hopefully they get that ironed out.
That is done during development for content creation, not rendered in real time during gameplay.
I do admit the further discussions in that Twitter thread by Kirby and others is fascinating. Didn’t realize launch SDK has issues with memory management.
I wish we had leaked devkit release notes for each iteration after the June/July 2020 leak. I think I still have that first one somewhere. It would be even nicer if the entire devkits leaked, for PS5 and Xbox.
A long thread about Dolby Vision improvements
Impressive
Agreed. It also doesn’t help that devs would likely be breaking NDA by publicly expressing issues with the SDKs at any point in time.
Edit:
This looks to go in line with the HDT Test video I posted earlier. Less amount of clipping and better highlights in DV but at the expense of a slightly dimmer scene overall. Best way I would describe DV is it’s more “accurate” than HDR10. Will be interesting to see how games authored for DV from start to finish end up and how they differ from games that just use DV conversion.
Yeah I’m definitely a fan of DV, so far with the games I’ve tested. Some game show a bigger difference than others. But Destroy all Humans was a crystal clear difference. Somehow thanks to DV it also looks significantly crisper.
How is this MS’ problem? They and their customers got Touryst in November 2020 in 6k and on Game Pass. Its time in the spotlight is long over. How did Xbox customers here get the short end of the stick, I for instance completed this game months ago
If you have another 10-12 months to work on a piece software it usually gets better and faster. There is nothing else to see here.
Showing HDR differences in SDR makes no sense whatsoever.
I just heard that Destiny 2 and Titanfall 2 greatly benefit from DV too. I was planning on going for a second playthrough of Titanfall 2 and now it will definitely happen.
They are tone mapped which is why they appear more vivid.
Yes, they are not HDR anymore. And you can tonemap the HDR image to the SDR image of the Dolby Vision version and vice versa. This demonstrates nothing really interesting.
I know it’s tonned map but I still prefer it.
But sure… It’s not the right representation
I didn’t watch the DF video yet but my buddy told me they say One X outperforms Series S and they are impressed with how close One X comes to Series X.
That would be…strange?
Halo , that is.
I am assuming that both One consoles (or maybe the One X was the lead platform like in Gears 5?) were the lead platforms for Halo Infinite cross-gen and all so it’s pretty normal to not have big differences. Optimizations will come for sure in the remaining two months for all platforms plus this is a test/demo and we don’t know how old it is.
I wouldn’t expect big differences between the One X and the Series X version though, probably resolution/frame-rate will be higher (closer to 4K and having 120hz option), some settings will be of higher quality and of course loading times are gonna be much faster. Still the MP from what I’ve seen looks beautiful so it will be a great looking game on all platforms.
That’s true. But wasn’t the MP to be said 30fps for One X? I’m happy for my buddy because he still has One X, but they made a big improvement in short notice.
The previous test was 30fps only on One X without an option for a 60fps mode but I don’t remember any confirmation about One X being only 30fps on MP. They probably didn’t have the time to include the 60fps option in the previous test.
The One X version looks great for sure, looks and runs very good. I am sure all versions will be great at launch though.
Its not strange at all. As we talked about the last days, the Xbox One X is in some workloads faster than a Series S. Also its not the whole picture, Series S and X will get a 120fps mode and the One X not.
The first flight did have a Quality/Performance setting on the One X that didn’t work but because of this option, many assumed it would have a 60fps option. Campaign will be 30fps only though.
Going back to that 8K talk. Here I was told Falconeer is 8K. I got curious and decided to install it. It’s 4K/60fps and 1800p/120fps.
People misread that article by Xbox last year. The Dev just said that if he went with 6K or 8K, but that he opted for 4K.
As for The Touryst, could it just be that the studio had all year to work on the PS5 version and managed to optimized it way more? Because I don’t believe for one second that this couldn’t be done on XSX, not for one second.
