If you are not a big fan of racing and have no interest in the 2 expansions then just wait for the standard edition to launch next week. You are only missing a few days and cars, nothing really important.

Well, I couldn’t wait. Despite not playing games that much at all. But these days I am just too into cockpit view + wheel settings so always like to try various racing games (but haven’t completed even one)

You driving in cockpit view in Forza Horizon games? I only do it in circuit road races, in all other cases i need the higher elevation of the behind the car camera to view where the race goes (i drive without full race line).

Only annoying thing is that it is difficult to look left and right, but I prefer cockpit view everywhere. It would be nice if cockpit view had bigger field of view though. It looks so pleasant. I just can’t drive in third person view anymore. Feels soulless lol
I use race line though.

This game is just insane, stayed up late last night to play for a while. I loved playing FH4, but this one is my favorite one yet with the Mexico setting, accolades system for progression and driving that feels even better for me. It really should be legitimately considered for GOTY it seems.

Choices are great in general of course, but I can’t imagine anyone on a Series X wanting to play this in anything other than the Performance mode at 4K/60 
I compared both modes, and there really isn’t any clear difference to me image quality wise while racing as it still looks amazing on my 65" TV sitting very close and is a game changer at double the frame rate. I am spoiled now with needing at least 60 FPS on games with a lot of motion or combat at least, as trying this one at 30 FPS made me feel almost sick. A seriously underrated aspect of the higher frame rate for a game like this too is that the image quality is actually helped IMO by being much more clear in motion.

I played a few hours and I already feel like it’s the best one yet. FH5 reminds me a lot of FH1 and FH3 in the setting and atmosphere. And to me, 1 and 3 are the best ones. Mexico is expansive and the best map yet. I just love driving on dirt and asphalt roads in the middle of the desert. It feels so good to play.

What surprised me the most, that I guess you have to experience for yourself rather than watching game clips, is how much more weight the cars have! I feel much more connected to the road, and less flimsy than it is in FH4. I have no idea how they made the cars feel heavy but they did… Incredible.
This is simply amazing, this HAS to be considered for GOTY, screw the “racing games aren’t real games” morons. Who the f came up with that notion anyway? The sheer joy of playing, how many times do you play a game where you spend like the first hour just smiling to yourself?

Very interesting. I was planning on starting with whatever is set to default by the studio. I also read some comments that the LOD can be very noticeable at times in performance mode. I mean we all experience things differently, so that could be it. How close to your TV do you sit?
I think DF said resolution in performance mode goes from native 4K to 1600p or so? And it probably stays at 4K a lot I bet. I shall see for myself Tuesday. But I kid you not , I was already preparing myself for 30fps by playing some 30fps games like Homefront and Control, haha. That way the transition will be fine, once you switch though…sheesh.
Especially that part about the weight makes me very happy, the driving was never ever bad or anything in FH but what you described sounds great.
