I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone suggest only Game Pass matters.
It’s the package for their cloud and subscription service offerings. If anything, there will be more tiers added to it over time as they add 4K streaming, more purchased games to stream, and more devices (e.g., LG TVs, get it back on Android, etc.).
Yeah, exactly. It’s hard for me to be too doom and gloom when I track store stats and based on what’s in the top 100 every week for Steam and PS…I’d be much more worried if I was running PS than MS. And this is before XGS is even really on PS.
(Note: Steam is fairly understating MS’ relative dominance because Minecraft and Battle.net)
I am going to be super interested to see this again by mid year and then at the end of the year. XGS with Forza Horizon ought to get a good bump on PS.
We have seen what happens if you don’t do day in date with the various PSX PC adaptations. They don’t nearly get the attention at PC launch day that Xbox games do. You lose the launch day cachet.
I’m not buying the theory that FH5 won’t affect GT in any way. We saw how FH slowly took the player base and playtime away from Motorsport, around FH3 it probably overtook FM and there’s no reason the same won’t happen to GT in the future.
A big reason FM and GT did so well for a long time was because they were pretty unopposed for a long time by consistent competition, NFS was that but it peaked in 05.
GT7 has probably done most of its lifetime sales, so FH5 releasing now won’t affect its tail much but it will reduce its playtime.
When GT8 comes it will definitely compete with FH6 for playtime and sales, with players slowly migrating towards FH just because it is more casual/fun.
Well they are all owned by Xbox so they should all be combined. Regardless of what people think of the fate of the plastic box, Xbox as a publishers and thus your already purchased games and saves are safer then ever.
Xbox is the worlds biggest gaming publisher that also happen to have their own hardware platform. I mean could you really navigate as a gamer today and NOT end up buying some games from MS? MS/Xbox games are about to be everywhere on everything, that certainly makes the eco system fairly future proof with many different lanes of revenue instead of relying solely on one plastic box
Pretty similar to Valve at this point and I think most people in the Steam/Valve eco systems are feeling pretty good about the future and so should Xbox fans.
At this point in time? Am going to remain wait and see. Microsoft’s history tells me its the better approach to this whole thing.
Also, i fear this could lead to taking current customers of the xbox ecosystem for granted. Which is a big enough no for the individuals to know that is unwise to do.
It absolutely will, feels like cope to believe otherwise
Those games will still have an audience but its like pretending something like CoD isn’t going to damage Halo if it suddenly came to Xbox for the first time
Mostly just precaution. Its just that when making a lot of money, it tends to make some avert their attention to what really got them in the first place, which this case is the xbox player community.
Also given how Satya spoke about redifining what an xbox fan makes me somewhat cautious about that style of wording.
Its fine to make move for better growth but for goodnees sake don’t try take what you already have for granted. Hence what i meant. No offense, its mostly concern on how Satya operated Microsoft that got me a tad worried is all.
You are free to disagree and all. Its just my own two cents in regards to that line of thought.
I wouldn’t put to much weight on anything that Satya spouts about Xbox, it’s just typical CEO nonsense speak.
And that’s certainly evidenced by the expression Phil pulled and the first words out of his mouth in this interview (4.25). To me his face says “what has that idiot said now”
