I really don’t see the sense in having an Xbox going forward in the next generation.
PC for Gamepass and a PS6 to play Sony exclusives… I still don’t see Sony doing day and date PC.
Unless Microsoft are going down the cheap streaming stick path for Gamepass on TVs, they are out of the casual gaming hardware business going forward.
Or I’ll play devils advocate and they are putting their first party games on their rivals platform… to go after another AAA gaming company and show the world they aren’t looking to stem consumer choice…
Kinda shocked they ported 5 and didn’t just wait for 6. Either way it was only a matter of time before the Forza Horizon series hit PlayStation and maybe even the Switch 2.
If you’re fine with PC, there hasn’t been a reason to own an Xbox all generation. Only reason is also wanting to experience those Xbox games in a more user friendly platform than PC.
If there is a FH6 set in Japan and releasing on the Switch2 + other platforms, that would do some crazy numbers, especially in Japan itself. It would be a global top seller, which it honestly couldn’t do being Xbox exclusive.
Probably because it’s better to outsource development of a pretty much “done” game to get up & running on a platform the engine hasn’t been used on yet. The experience will come in handy for whenever they work on the FH6 port.
I haven’t turned my Xbox on in at least 2 years now, it’s just a dust magnet now… I have no need to with my gaming PC and the experience with PC will only get better as games get graphically better and require more computing power, plus anything I buy on PC is usually at a minimum 15% cheaper on PC to buy.
If they don’t launch a streaming stick and start doing Day and Date on PS5 going forward, there is literally no need to buy an Xbox outside of Gamepass access, if you want to own a console…

Yeah, it definitely is annoying. And I can’t imagine there haven’t been talks for PS games to come to Xbox. I mean, it wouldn’t surprise me if Xbox/Phil Spencer at the very least tried to make a deal. And who knows, maybe we do get a PS game this year with Lego Horizon and Sony is like “that’s the best we can do.” which would suck.
Sony clearly sees no need for it, but yeah, as big Xbox player I can’t deny it’s a bit frustrating to see Xbox basically keeping PS afloat this year and nothing comes to us.
PC is not for me anymore, and I still prefer how Xbox does things. I love quick resume and it really remains to be seen if Sony nails that next gen. I like the controller more with much longer lasting battery life, the ecosystem and of course Game Pass.
I don’t see GP coming to Sony and Nintendo platforms with first party releases day one, and that alone makes me buy a next gen Xbox.
They are already day and date for a lot of their titles and its only a matter of time before they will be day 1 for everything
and with the next xbox quite likely to be an xbox that also plays pc games, they are far better set up for the future than Sony are quite frankly
Hardware in general next gen and beyond is going to become more niche for everyone, almost everything is going to be cross gen going forward so there will be little to no reason to upgrade to things like ps6 or the next box if they dont offer wildly different things beyond extra power
Nah, there definitely won’t have been any talks started by Xbox for Sony to bring their games over, that’d have at least leaked by now. The ball is completely in Sony’s court, as it was with Xbox, to do so.
Xbox users need to seriously think about dipping into PC gaming or at the very least Geforce now.
You will get most of Sony exclusives coming to PC and still get the benefits of gamepass.
Currently I use Series X as my main gaming rig and Geforce now as my non TV/Mobile gaming option.
It works great for that purpose, I’m building a high end PC and will still keep my series X for my TV and will be the next Xbox for my TV but essentially as the ads says any device I want becomes an Xbox and I play the same games and the same saves regardless.
Xbox fans are doing themselves a disservice by not exploring all the different platform options Xbox gives you to move seamlessly from one platform to another with your games and save files.
Do not confine yourself by old school console war thinking, everyone has other options.
I have a somewhat shitty gaming laptop and I could dip into more pc gaming. But I’m not because it’s just not for me, there’s a possibility that in the future if Xbox no longer makes a console I will have to, but I really don’t like it.
I’ve been thinking quite a bit about pc gaming, but the doubts are just way too big. Some people say it can perfectly replace a console for living room gaming on a big screen thanks to Steam Big Screen mode, but the tinkering with settings to get games running well will always be a thing. I’ve spoken to people and they said they tried it because they were told you can absolutely adjust to that if you’ve been gaming on consoles for super long, but this person said he really couldn’t.
But I do like that with a good enough pc you probably won’t have to worry about framerate and can easily play the newest games at at least 60fps, which is perfect because I don’t necessarily need to go above that and then being able to put everything at max. Then of course some amazing mods for many games too. But I just ain’t the kind of gamer that is going to use a mouse while sitting/laying on the couch, that’s what my trusty Xbox and controller is for. So while pc gaming keeps coming back to me in my mind, I also keep thinking…it’s fine this way.
Geforce now however, I do find that interesting too. Because I am not against game streaming, if it can be on par with local gaming. But one thing, if you have a great and strong pc, why the need for streaming?
I’ve been telling a friend for a while now that Forza Horizon 5 is the one game that makes the most sense on PS due to the huge sales of the PS brand in Europe, racing games main market, this could make FH6 a massive launch if it releases the same day on PS5, FH5 was already huge without a PS release and I don’t think PS5 currently has a game like FH5, I think there’s The Crew but not a FH5 level greatness, it will probably do big numbers.
Like others mentioned though, Xbox is out here kind of helping PS… The money they make from this could easily be money they’ll use to pay to keep some future game off Xbox lol, it sucks that we won’t be getting anything from PS, I wouldn’t mind Demo Souls or Uncharted trilogy.
That would make a lot of sense and it’s a great business model that I think even Die-Hard Xbox fans can live with. Give PlayStation owners a 4-year-old game and also see what they missed out on, while Game Pass gets the brand new entry in the series
