Well, if the “muh ecosystem” is a real thing, I expect everything there when I log in on PS.
That would be a good thing, but then from what we’ve seen in the past from leaked contracts with Sony, some of their demands for this were entirely unreasonable. I’m thinking of the clauses related to giving Sony more money with sales of content entirely out of their eccosystem just to enable it being used on a PS. Do we think the Sony of Today is more reasonable?
But it’s not dead though. Unless we don’t want to believe new hardware is in development.
The traditional console model is probably over for Microsoft, so I think it will be a niche thing, at this point, what will Xbox do differently that doesn’t have a Steam Deck, PS5, or Switch 2 when it comes out?
so they are doing the support of more than 16 tb external drive for nothing?
Stop trying to apply logic to drive by trolls. Flag and move on
I trust Xbox more with stuff like quick resume, a (for me) game changer feature. That’s one reason, the other is controller with way longer lasting battery life, ecosystem, Game Pass(still not on other consoles) and so on. I expect a lot more people that simply prefer Xbox the console to get the next one.
The other day I was talking to someone on Twitter and this person said that eventually we’ll all be playing games on our TV, except there won’t be any kind of box next to it, it’ll be via a app on the TV or whatsoever and honestly, I’ll be there too once the experience is exactly the same as dedicated hardware.
I’m actually happy about this. The Horizon series is one of my favorite franchises and the more people that get to play it, the more investment these games will hopefully get going forward.
Great for the franchise but kinda lackluster for current users of Xbox not gonna lie. I would be very much more at ease if playstation games were made available on Xbox and some of the fears would be sweeped away.
Cause again, feel like the Higher Ups are prioritizing Nintendo and Playstation than Xbox, and when it is Xbox its just Gamepass or Pc side of things. It will be a massive blow if the games run better on playstation than Xbox.
How is it “lackluster”? They have had the game, now others can play it and help fund more games that are going to be on Xbox and in Game Pass.
I guarantee you that the game will run better on PS5 Pro because it’s better hardware that costs more. And I will still have not paid $70 to play FH5 on Day 1. If GamePass / the Xbox hardware isn’t appealing to you, there are other options which is good for you as a consumer.
This was my thinking as well. FH 5 is awesome so it should do great on PlayStation 5. It’s not like they have anything else to play over there. lol
I see that some people here think this increases the chances of FH6 getting announced and possibly released this year. Interesting, well, I’m all for it. 100%.
This! I can only wholeheartedly agree with this. How awesome this would be. Xbox ships FH to PS, PS ships Spidey games to Xbox.
Yes!
More players for the game. More glory.
Hoping for player count to reach 60+Million now.
Now it would be fantastic if they announce FH6 already.
Forza Horizon 5
For Life
Forza Horizon is already the biggest car racing game in the world, releasing it on PS5 and Switch 2 effectively wards off any current and potential future competition and strengthens its position as top dog. It’s the best thing for the franchise.
I won’t say I’m happy about that. It feels unecessary.
Remember “Xbox has no games” from a few years back? Also remember how wrong that was? I think most of us spend most of our gaming time playing non-first party games after all.
PS users lack of first party games atm is not even that much of an issue for a few reasons: The above third party games available everywhere, the moneyhats and now an influx of the competitions games.
Ubisoft must be angry about this because this will cannibalize the crew franchise. GT will be more than fine, but I feel the domino effect of this move will harm other franchises. I felt Motorfest and other games benefited that Forza Horizon wasn’t on Playstation. I am unsure how Ubisoft will recover becuase I know a lot of playstation gamers bought it due to no Horizon
Both always have published games coming. It just depends on what they are and if the individual is interested. So for example, I had Gears Tactics at launch, Halo Infinite campaign a year later but then nothing of interest until Hi Fi Rush was shadow dropped in January 2023 followed by Redfall in May, Starfield in September and then in 2024, Hellblade 2 in May, COD BO 6 in October and Indiana Jones in December.
On the Sony side, I had Miles Morales at launch, Ratchet in June 2021, Horizon Forbidden West in February 2022, GOW Ragnarok in November 2022, Spider Man 2 in October 2023, Rise of the Ronin in March 2024, Stellar Blade in April 2024 and Astro Bot in September 2024.
Currently, since Astro Bot, im not expecting to get a game from Sony until Yotei which im putting as a June-August release. While this drought for me personally will be close to what I had with Microsoft between Halo Infinite and Hi Fi Rush (14 months), im not expecting it to surpass that unless Yotei gets delayed out of 2025 which is always possible.
I’m certain that everyone plays more third party games because there’s just way more of them all the time. Sony can make up for droughts/gaps with moneyhats which to be honest, I don’t blame them because I would do the exact same thing.
Through 2024, Sony has had a 33 monthly gap. Out of 50 months, Sony has published 19 new games in 17 months while Microsoft with a 30 monthly gap has published 22 new games in 20 months. Both are very close amazingly.
For 2025 however, the only game I see Sony publishing with a release date is MLB The Show 25 while Microsoft has Avowed, South of Midnight and Doom: The Dark Ages all for the first half and this doesn’t include Towerborne which should be somewhere in the first half.
Microsoft has a ton of games coming now and in the future. It’s taken years for their studio acquisitions and Bethesda acquisition to pay off with games but they’re finally hitting that one game per quarter cadence that they’ve wanted for so long.
So while my PlayStation 5 collects dust, I have three Microsoft published games coming in the span of four months and of course a bunch of third party Game Pass day one games. I looked over the PlayStation 5 list for the first half of 2025 and their biggest games will be Microsoft’s.
You’re right, that’s exactly why it’s a good move.
You can either be exclusive and never threaten to be the biggest game in the world (no Sony game no matter how good will ever match the sales of an equivalent 3rd party game) or you can be everywhere and take all the money for youself. If a studio releases a good Helldivers clone that’s multiplatform it has a very good chance of usurping Helldivers, that’s a big risk of exclusive games.
It’s essentially how CoD won against Halo despite having fluctuating quality levels. It is still possible to have exclusive mind you but certain games/franchises reach a point in their life cycle where being everywhere is the only right move.
