Forza Horizon 5: E3 Gameplay Demo; Game Launches November 9th 2021

What is sad is how some people on the other forum are throwing shade that FH5 E3 Most Anticipated Award.

Pathetic.

Just ignore it, it was quite predictable (on that forum). I think it’s ok for people to disagree (if it’s not console war related), like it’s not the genre they play or they have alternative titles which impressed. Eg. I don’t like (am good at) Rogue Like/Lite games, but I can totally appreciate Hades getting many awards.

Personally I would have voted for Halo Infinite, I just see so much potential in the multiplayer and a good Halo story campaign. But Forza Horizon 5 really surprised me. They showed some visual scenes that I thought nice… wait this is already gameplay. And gameplay wise (and party forming innovations) I think it’s one of the most enjoyable car open world games out there. I rarely play racing games, but Forza Horizon and Motorsport do lure me in. For me that is why I’m ok with FH5 being awarded.

My guess estimate is dynamic 4k 60 with exclusion of dense volumetric lighting… I saw a video of FH3 vs FH5 and Vegetation density, Geometric detail and Volumetric effects were things a noticed most different.

Man ML super resolution can’t come soon enough

I’m sure that when Gran Turismo 7 is shown and looks amazing, we’ll hear the exact same sentiments: Who cares, it’s just a racing game, it’s just a sequel, racing games are not worthy of recognition and aren’t even real games in the first place.

Oh wait… no we won’t.

Won’t matter, both Forzas are going to eat it for lunch.

Motorsport in special, being next-gen only.

Watching Forza Horizon 5 demo in 1440p/60fps, easily the best looking open world game I have seen in a while. Recording Mexico in 12K with HDR. That’s insane. Will definitely be playing the campaign just so I can see the world that Playground built. Looks amazing!!!

Yeah it is quite stunning how good it looks and not to mention it’ll look even better once you’re playing it in person. I really hope the campaign/story whatever you call it is different to the last couple. Easily my most anticipated game of 2021 though.

I hope the campaign takes through all the different areas/regions of the game so I can see the entire world that Playground built.

People don’t really know how popular FH4 was and how loved it is by critics as well as its fanbase. FH4 has 24 million players in Nov 2020 and since released on steam. The game probably is close to 30 million players, few games in any genre are as highly rated (92) and have as many players.

FH5 will most likely surpass all these records and people will still try to downplay it.

Nothing new really but some snippets about online modes and expeditions etc. Also forzathon live has been retired which is fine by me.

This sounds awesome and very much like what you described, down to even having some “scripted” events in this to showcase the cool weather tech and such in different places.

How does this new Expedition mode factor into the overall structure?

Mike Brown: Yeah, so you’ll take part in a number of Expeditions throughout the campaign. Each one of them is kind of a - I’d call it a high point in the campaign. So it’s like one of those events that you’ll build up towards, and then you’ll get the opportunity to take part in an Expedition, which will see you head out and explore a new area of the world which you probably haven’t seen yet. They’re led by a character that we saw in the demo yesterday - his name is Ramiro, or Rami. And he is Mexican, he loves Mexico, he acts as something of a tour guide while we’re there. His character is really enthusiastic that the Horizon festival has arrived in Mexico, and he’s going to show us all the amazing things that there are to see.

So the Expeditions act as almost a curated experience through the world where you’ll have a character who really excitedly calls out all the cool things you can see. And they also offer us an opportunity to showcase some of our new technology. There’s one where, as you’re on the Expedition, a tropical storm rolls in and it’s really dramatic. There’s another one that goes up the volcano and, wouldn’t you know it, the volcano’s active at the time, because of course it is. They offer us an opportunity to showcase a lot of the really exciting things that the game has to offer in a curated, story-driven experience. A lot of those things can and will happen in free-roam just naturally, while you’re exploring, but this gives a more curated way to do it. At the end of each Expedition, you open up a new Horizon festival site, and with that opens up a load of new races.

I had some friends in the voice chat and they all reacted the same.

Just another in engine demo, bleh

And then :astonished: :open_mouth:

Glad to hear that they’re addressing the “overwhelming” issue from FH4. It can definitely feel that way sometimes especially when returning to the game after not playing for a while.

Some scenes really do pass off as real if you are just taking a quick glance.

I’m curious to see if they keep the “fuck” word in the song in the game. My guess is that it will be censored.

It will 100% be censored. I mean they censored stuff in FH4 that had much milder language.

That’s a shame. They should get songs that don’t have profanity in them or give the option to let the profanity stay in the songs for those who want it.

None of the songs in FH4 had profanity, or at least I don’t recall, but they censored songs that had very vague references to drugs anyway. To get that E rating, it seems.

Yeah, they will always an E rating so it makes sense.
