I think this is the first time Sega have mentioned a new VF is in development, no?
“So we have a suite of titles in development right now that fall into that legacy bucket, which we announced last year at The Game Awards; Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and we have another Virtua Fighter being developed.”
This revival of their classic IP’s is seriously awesome. I just need a new Outrun, Panzer Dragoon and Shenmue now!
My original plan was to get some adapters to use my 360 TE2 sticks for the Series/One consoles but since MS clamped down on that, I was going to save up for one stick for the Series.
But then I saw these on sale at Amazon (might be a BF deal) and picked up 2.
Reviews seem to be good but not as tough and long lasting like fight sticks. Love the Japanese Saturn controller shape.
So image of $46 CAN it’s $35 CAN.
And I’m just seeing on the box now…it includes one month of GPU! Which is $20 CAN.
So it’s a great deal all around. And when friends come over, I think they’ll dig these as much as the fight sticks when we play on the 360 (if you scroll up many posts here you’ll see I have it connected to a CRT for that authentic arcade look).
I personally love mine. Picked it up about two months ago now, right after I broke my hand; was great for allowing me to play 2d games without issue and once I was able to use it for fighting games (going through the Capcom Fighting Collection for my backlog), it was awesome.
Very rare missed inputs at this point and that says everything for me.
Yes as much as I like the one/series d-pads I think I’m going to revisit Sonic Mania, play more of Hollow Knight (I’m early into it and I think it is below average and overrated but I hear I need to play more of it), and play through Ori 2 with this.
I also play co-op beat em ups with friends when they come over so this seems like a justifiable purchase, Even though I was still in love with the idea of picking up two arcade sticks.
Last night I hosted a Street Fighter night where we played:
SF1 on the Series X with 8bitDo 6 button pads
SF2, 3, 4 on the 360 with TE2 arcade sticks (on a CRT TV)
SF5 on the PS5 regular controllers
SF6 on the Series X with the 8bitDo 6 button pads
A mix of old heads in our mid to late 40s with our kids.
We played for hours across these different games and voted for 1 game to hold a tournament. It came to a tie between SF3 and SF6. Then in a vote between those two 80% voted SF6.
I used a site called “Challonge” to create a tournament bracket, really convenient to use and saved a ton of hassle.
In case anyone was wondering, the winner won with Kimberly.
